After months upon months of lurking on this site trying to learn from the wealth of information posted here (i love you all!), I finally took the plunge after seeing what I think is **the one** (and hopefully you will agree!). My boyfriend let me choose my own ring, overall budget (diamond+setting) $6000 (excluding the lovely import charges as I''m from Ireland, they must be added on later, yuck!).

For the diamond I had in mind excellent cut, H, SI1, 0.9-1ct, and hopefully flurescence (which I really like). I saw a few that caught my fancy on the Good Old Gold website and after a couple of conversations with Jon (via the instant chat function on the site, really brilliant for people like me living abroad!) decided on this one: http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/3958

Jon was absolutely brilliant and showed me a couple of videos that gave me a good idea of the diamond''s performance. I never thought I would make up my mind so quickly but the diamond just was everything I was looking for so my boyfriend transferred the funds the very next day! Scary but good! And Christen was great for taking us through the reservation process and making the whole transaction go like clockwork.

So a huge thanks to all at Good Old Gold!

I decided on a Mark Morrell petite sunburst setting, so the diamond is currently residing chez Mark awaiting setting. It should be ready end of February and I''m so excited to finally get to see it!

Thank you pricescopers for all your wonderful help and advice and I''ll be sure to post pictures as soon as it arrives!!

Congrats on the beautiful stone!!!

Congrats thecatamuk!

That looks like a lovely stone and your setting of choice is one of my favorites! They will make a magnificent pair.

I cannot wait to see pics of both!

Well look at ya now! Waltzing in here for your first post with a fabulous diamond that's going to go in a drop dead setting.

Congratulatiions, you have done exceedingly well. Can't find a thing wrong with the diamond, and I KNOW there's not going to be a thing wrong with the setting. Except.......that it's not mine.

And we WILL be expecting hand shots of this lovely, if that's possible. Good job!

Lucky you to find a stone in the .9 range! Great choice in the setting as well!

Beautiful stone! Looking forward to seeing the final pictures!

Congrats on the stunner!

Not all ladys are lucky enough to have such a nice budget, nor such a nice fiancee to let you pick all the whole darn thing!

LOL! It looks spectacular, and sounds like GOG did an amazing job with you.

I may have to go with them in five years or so when I upgrade my sparkly *nudges fiancee* :)
