Evening folks,
It''s been a while, but I haven''t been snoozing. Since my last "help finding cushion e-ring setting" thread I''ve seen dozens of cushions, bought an idealscope, ASET, loupe, and finally settled on a cushion from Mark Turnowski @ ERD (see attached). For the setting, I shopped locally until my eyes hurt, talked to Maytal about making a custom setting, etc. etc. I finally decided it was taking way too long, and I was running in circles because ultimately I didn''t know exactly what my girlfriend wanted, and couldn''t decide on my own. So, I bought an inexpensive stand-in, popped the question (she accepted, yay!) and treated her to a weekend in NY to meet Mark in person, see the stone, and design the perfect setting for herself.
I was able to give her extensive lessons on all the details I had learned from here and on my own. We spent several hours in local stores and going over pictures. We finally came up with a pen-and-paper drawing of the things she liked most, and headed for the Big Apple. Had a fantastic weekend exploring the city, taking in a show on Broadway, and finally an appointment with Mark last Monday morning. He was fantastic to work with, very generous with his time (he''s super busy though, so expect lots of disruptions). In total we spent about 2 hours with him, and left feeling very positive about the project. Should have some CAD drawings in a week or so.
The stone is:
