The Alfred Angelo is just a bit more flattering on you (probably because it''s zipped and pinned properly) than the Melissa Sweet. Have you really given up on the Melissa Sweet? I really like the fabric and the flow better on the Melissa Sweet for your beach wedding.
Someone please smack me. I need to step away from the wedding dress thinking for a day or two! Tonight I pulled out the Melissa Sweet again and started seeing the things in it I had loved in the first place - the movement in the swishy skirt, the way it hugs my hips, the pleating in the fabric over the chest which minimizes my abundant boobage...
What I don''t like about it is the fullness of the skirt and the lack of straps. Tonight I took a good look at it and I think I can fix both of those things in the Melissa Sweet. Straps could be added, but I don''t know where I could get enough of the dot material to cover straps in those. The extra poofy skirt comes from a layer of stiff netting attached to an underskirt. The dress has TONS of layers - the swiss dot is over two more layers of plain netting which are over a full satin skirt which is over a muslin underskirt with the stiff netting attached. I could very very easily remove the stiff netting and add it back in if I decide it is needed.
If I remove the stiff netting and it fits as well as I think it will, chances are I''ll have to have it hemmed about an inch, which might leave enough of the dot fabric to cover straps.
Lots to think about, and since I''m so undecided I think I''ll mull it over for at least a month before making a decision.
That swishy skirt is to die for. I say take the week off and obsess about something else.
Come back, remove the netting, and if you like it, get thee to a seamstress. The Alfred Angelo is flattering, but the fabric looks very formal to me, and I think it would look kind of out of place on a beach. Whereas your current dress would look romantic and swishy.
