I couldn't stay out of the pawn shop and brought this home because I wanted to look at it more closely. I love finding grimy rings and cleaning them up to see if they have anything going for them =)
It's platinum and one of the side diamonds has a little ruby in the table, which is fun. Otherwise they are clean under 10x.

mm, funny.

yes, probably. I'm having it appraised on Tuesday, and will probably have to let it go :((
I'm so greedy - I have TWO stones coming back from being set in the next 2 weeks.
Also, I wear a size 5.25 - this ring is almost a 9...so I'd have to have the diamonds reset to wear it. [head spinning]

But I'm glad I found it and rescued it =)
For now it makes a perfect thumb ring!

Thanks! I feel lucky - and you are lucky too! are you enjoying your new ring? =)

Wow, nice find! I should spend more time in pawn shops but our shops mostly have erings with teeny-tiney diamonds in
them, and not very nice ones at that!

Wow. Holy finger coverage, and it's a 9?? Can't wait to see what the appraiser thinks! Congrats Jimmianne.

Wow, that is a nice find!!!! They would look totally amazing in bezels as well if you decided to keep the stones (because the ring is so big).

Thanks for all the positive comments. I've gotten some nice deals in that shop...so I'm hopeful this will be another winner. The shop is irresistible - they always have quite an inventory of interesting estate pieces.
I'll post again after I get the appraisal!

this is a lovely ring and find!

nice find! interested to hear what the appraisal is

What a lovely ring, that was a great find :wavey:

One of the best parts of finding diamonds is posting them here and sharing.
Here are a couple of last photos until I get the appraisal next week.
It's fun to think it might be a super find, so I'm going to enjoy that thought until next Tuesday!

Oh my goodness -- that is such a cool (and amazing) ring!!

Great find! Keep it. It is beautiful.

I hope you don't take my post the wrong way and feel free to not answer the question, but since the title of the thread is Pawn Shop Find, I'm dying to know what you paid! Also, you invested money in an appraisal, but you aren't sure if you plan to keep it? I have checked out a few pawn shops, but only the chain store pawn shops allow returns. Does your take returns or do you plan to sell it?

There was a thread a few month ago on pawn shop finds, but since very few people participated, I had to wonder if pawn shop finds are frowned upon by PSers...judging from the overwhelming positive responses to your thread, I guess I was wrong! I think I will bump that thread and try to find a few of my purchases and see if others follow my lead.

Those stones look huge on your hand! My local pawn shops have nothing like that. They tend to take stones of any decent size out of their mounting and put them in solitaire settings. :nono: Once again, great find!

Oh I love that! Great find!

I might need it. grumble grumble grumble....

Can't wait to hear what the appraiser says! I would have those diamonds re-set in a ring my size in a heartbeat. LOVE the ovals!

What a great find. I really like ovals.

What a great find!!! It's a beautiful ring. I love the ovals together.

Looks like a beautiful ring - the stones are amazing!

You are so lucky to have a good pawn shop where you live! If you got it for a good price and the appraisal turns out good, you might want to list quickly on loupetroop to see if someone here wants it for the price you paid before taking it back.

What about turning it into a DBTY type necklace? That would be lovely!

Got to keep my diamond-ducks in a row =)

At first I could not figure out what DBTY was  That really would be something!

Okay, so, this is a gorgeous find AND a size 9? I will be watching Preloved. My fat fingers might need to snatch this up!

OK. I just got back from the appraiser. [She is a Pricescope appraiser].
Now I have to figure out what to do.
I'm "straddling the fence".

I am so tempted to keep this ring. After being professional cleaned, it's amazing
I don't need it. No no no!
Drat. It's growing on me.

It appraised for $6600, replacement value .
I would have to get at least $4200 to make it worth selling at this point.
Even then I hate to sell it [ugh, D. addiction is awful  ]

Here are the specs: Platinum setting
center stone: 0.58ct VS2/G
larger side stones: tcw 0.78ct VS2-SI1/G-H
end side stones: tcw 0.48ct VS2/H-I
The oval cuts are very well matched, total weight 1.84ct

So I thought I would immediately put it on LT, but now I either have to be talked into it or talked out of it.
Is there a voice of reason out there??

edit: the crystal in one of the stones is a garnet of course, not a ruby.

Sorry - I shouldn't be talking about pricing here, probably. I guess I'll sleep on it and see how I feel about selling it tomorrow.
I don't want to have more rings than I can wear, but I do feel so greedy for diamonds sometimes : )
