I have a 1.38 pear shape solitaire. Gorgeous! It makes me happy just looking at it. But i cant help but feel i really want a halo. Now this is the problem, do I follow along with the trend and have a million other girls with the same ring or just dress it up with a pave band... Oh wait thats a trend too! So confused and I only have a month till we are married!

are there jewelry stores with pear halos or just halo in general? if so, I''d just go try on a bunch just to test it out and really get a feel for it, it may or may not make your heart sing for a halo. Because when I''m on PS I always think I want this ring and want that ring... but trying it on in real life gives you a different perspective kwim?

D&T is right. Plus with only a month till the wedding I don''t think you have time to have your ring remade. If you do decide to halo you can do that later.

So go try on a bunch of different bands with your ring, plain diamond studded, gemstone and diamond etc. That will give you an idea of what looks best with your ering. And many PSers have several wbands and switch them out. So if you love more than one style that''s OK and doable.

HTH

Honestly, because your diamond is such a nice big size, and such a LOVELY shape, I personally love it like it is.

Have you considered making it into a three stone instead of a halo? I have a pear three stone and I love it. Classic, yet unique. But, I also love pave bands...so, I guess I''m not much help!

I have a pear halo so I''m biased

. I know there are a lot out there now (only the ones on the forums/internet) but I have not seen any at local jewelry stores. So even if they are popular, it''s still not mainstream (where I live anyways) The three pear ring sounds like a good idea. Have fun deciding!

I vote for a halo! It''s so funny because we see so many halos on PS, but I hardly ever see them in real life. They aren''t costly and if you don''t like it, you can always pop in a gemstone! A month won''t be enough for a custom job, however! Your pear is lovely. I think it would be perfect with a delicate halo!

I too think delicate pear halos are absolutely gorgeous, and with a pear, it''s not like your ring would be a dime a dozen either.

This is true! I have never seen a pear halo''d in real life.

I have a halo'ed pear (see my avatar) so am definitely biased. Personally, I only like delicate halo's.

I say go on, halo it, but perhaps wait until after yr wedding, unless you can find a jeweller that can do it within that timeframe.

Oh, and also I'm the only one amongst my relatives and friends with a halo'ed pear. I don't even see any halo'ed pears IRL in the shops or on other people where I live, so it's pretty unique really.

I have never seen a pear halo in person, but I actually love your ring the way it is now. Simple and classic and if you are questioning it all, you may just want to wait until after the wedding to make up your mind on the setting.

I like pears with tapered baguettes in three stones. And I love them with pave bands. And I also love them with halos. Firegoddess''s ring is one of my all time favorites.

I think that you need to think about your life style and try out different styles on your fingers.

I have a halo and honestly, I only know one person other than PSers with a halo in my life... and that''s my mother. They aren''t that frequently seen, despite the perception PS gives you.

I''d get a nice pave band wedding ring and then look at whether or not to go halo or pear sides, I like either, but I really love Jessica Simpsons set so torn.

Don''t do it!!! You have a beautiful diamond that doesn''t need a halo. You''ve been bitted by the PS curse - i.e looking at other women''s rings and then thinking that your''s somehow is no longer good enough.

Concerntrate on your wedding and get over the halo thing

p.s I do love solitaires so I''m biased

I went through this same delimma about 6 months ago. I have a pear with tapered baguettes on the side. I wanted to add some more bling
because the baguettes are not very blingy. So...do I halo it? Do I put it in a new setting with lots of bling in the band? I really spent a lot of time
thinking about it. What I ended up doing is adding a 5 stone .80 ctw wedding band with it to get my extra bling. I was afraid if I haloed it and
didnt like it I would be out a lot of money. Plus, its hard to find pre-made setting that fit pears... (with added bling in them). So bottom line
was I stayed with what I had and added the blingy wedding band. I dont know how long you have had your ering but I suggest you live with
it a while and then see how you feel.

I think a delicate little halo around a pear would look beautiful! I also think a delicate halo with a little pave on the band would look really pretty as well. But def. try on some at a store to see if you really like it.

I''ve got a pear and I''ve been thinking about the same thing for a long time. What if halos are just a trend and what if they do look dated in five years, just like every other "new" style? I think you have to judge for yourself whether you love the halo look or not.

A good point that someone brought up is that here on PS, lots of ladies have halo-ed center stones, but in real life? It''s been my experience that jewelry stores definitely have them, but they are at the end of the display case with the higher priced mountings and there are only a few to choose from.

Another good point brought up, especially in the case of halo-ing fancies, these mountings for the most part have to be custom made. Since you only have one month til your wedding, I wouldn''t suggest that you take on that kind of a project now. Among all of us who have done a custom project, whether it''s with WF, Leon, ER Direct, Mark Morrell, you have to leave yourself a six week window just to be on the safe side and that''s after you''ve finalized a design and all of it''s elements. Four weeks is much too much of a squeeze and you have all those last minutes wedding details to deal with. I think, just my humble opinion, that you''ll enjoy the project when you have more time to devote to it.

I''d get the diamond wedding band and then after the wedding decide if you want to add the diamonds to the e-ring. I find a solitaire with a diamond band gives me just the right amount of bling without overdoing it. I do think a thin, delicate halo (think Leon Mege) is really pretty with a pear and would not be dated.

I have yet to find a ps halo in a jewelry shop around here. I stand correct it, i have BARELY found anything for a pear shape. Its like the black sheep of diamond shapes! I seem to find things online but I wouldnt dare purchase anything. It would have to be very thing and dainty with little to no gap between the diamond and halo.

I dont know. Im not an easy girl to please in general, nevermind when you bring jewelry into it. I think I will do a nice delicate band until I can find exactly what I want. Im not the settling type of girl. :) I love all the input! Thank you soooooooo much!

I would go halo! Firegoddess'' ring is one of my all time favs.

Your ring is lovely. I think a halo would take away from your pear but that is just my opinion. It would look lovely in a halo but IMO the difference boils down to do you want a lovely ring or a lovely diamond solitaire?

i''d say no halo, but that''s just my opinion, how about some sidestones?

I truly ditto this! Right before I got my four-prong ring, I was thinking I wanted a ring with a halo....so when I was in the store looking at all the settings, I tried on a halo....in an instant I knew it was not for me! Honestly, you have to go and try one on to know how you feel, because I was sure I wanted a halo ring but it only took one try-on and 2 seconds for me to decide that, nope - don''t want it after all!

I double ditto this. After looking at pictures on PS I wanted a princess channel set wedding band but when I actually went to a store and tried one on I knew it was not for me

Me? Don''t do it. You''ll never tire of a beautiful classic.

Ugh, I remember watching newlyweds, Im such a sucker for her ring... in an ideal wordl
emwink.gif

But then again what does the ring matter if the marriage sucks?

I live in a very country town. I think Im going to have to got up to Boston to see what they hae. Maybe a girls weekend. My fiance is just exhausted and useless at this point.

You think hed be mad if I asked for two?

Here is my 1.68 pear in a delicate halo setting. I absolutely love it! Pear halos are quite rare...maybe not for long...if you look on the new Martha Steward Wedding magazine, there is a pear halo on the cover.

Sorry the picture came out so large...

Either way is beautiful, however, which style is more "you?"

Don''t worry about the trend factor, just concentrate on a setting that makes your heart sing.
