So, I''ve been toying with the idea of cutting my hair for quite some time. I have long, thick hair that''s just above my bra strap. I want to cut it like this,

Here''s the only thing holding me back (I can only share this with you girls, everyone else will think I am insane). I want long hair for my wedding, which is not even scheduled yet but is expected sometime in 2010. I rationally know I have enough time to cut it and let it grow again, but some teensy fear inside me is all, "what about your future wedding? Forget that you''re not engaged yet, no date is set and even if it was you have over a year to grow your hair out?! This is your WEDDING!!!"

Augh!! Talk me down from the ledge please. :P

Do it! Do it! Do it!

Like you already know, you'll have plenty of time to let it grow out. New Year, New LOOK, is a great idea in IMO.

I recently chopped mine off and I knew an engagement was coming soon! I figured that I''d rather love it until 2010 (which is when we''re getting married, too) than hate it until my wedding. There are always extensions if you really do hate it, but it''s just hair and it would probably grow a lot!

I say DO IT

My hair is currently at the length that''s in your picture and I had cut it into a chin-length bob back in May. Like you, I started to think about how I want long gorgeous locks for my wedding so now I''m growing it out! I generally only cut my hair once or twice a year anyway but I definitely do not plan to do a big chop between now and 2010! I say that if you want to cut your hair, now''s the time to do it! It''s better to get rid of the urge now then next year when you know you won''t have time to grow it back out.

Chop it!!!!!

It will help stir growth and healthy hair follicles...

so JUMP!

go for it! It''s not even that short!

My rule is that if I''m not sure, I don''t touch my hair.

I LOVE that cut, but hair does take a while to grow out. I chopped mine about that length last april and its still well above my bra strap, granted I''ve gotten probably three trims since then.

If you want the haircut get it! You''ll feel great and it will be longer by the wedding, and lyou can always have a few extensions added in for the style you want.

I wouldn''t do it.. (however, this is because if I did it it would equal an instant break up with bf)

I say cut it. It really is not that shirt and you do have probably over a year for it to grow out for your wedding. And, hairsylists can do amazing things for you when it comes to your wedding so dont worry!

Cut it! I had hair a bit shorter than yours that I cut into that exact hairstyle (although 2-3 inches shorter) 2 months ago. I was worried about the wedding too, but since we weren''t engaged I went for it. We got engaged 2 weeks later.

But I love it so much more than I thought I would that I''m not even worried about growing it out for our May 2010 wedding. You have plenty of time to grow it out before a 2010 wedding.

Haha I say CHOP it!!

that''s so funny, i know what you mean about wanting it a certain way for the wedding. I''ve been debating whether to dye my hair brown (i''ve never dyed it EVER.. and I''m blond). and I''m having the same argument with myself.. even tho i''m technically not even engaged!!

I say go for it! it''s always fun trying something new. you will have plenty of time to grow it out before the big day!

I literally just made the exact same decision last month. My BF threatened to break up with me (jokingly of course) because he likes my hair long, so do I but I just needed a change and it was getting so long that it was hard to do anything with and took forever to style. I told BF that I''d make him a deal, once there was a ring on my finger he could have a say in my hair and that I wouldn''t cut it until after the wedding.

He just rolled his eyes.

I am very happy with my cut, it feels great. We want to get married 10/2010 so I definitely still have time. I''m definitely going to keep getting it trimmed until that ring is on my finger though!

Do what makes you happy, the way I look at it...it''s only hair, it''ll grow back!

haha! This is hilarious because last year I cut my hair much shorter than ever before. I let it grow some over summer but kept the same style (that grew to about Heidi's lenght) Then I cut it back shorter again. (not super short, just about 3 inches shorter than your photo of Heidi) The whole time I've HAD this style (a whole year! at different lengths) I've always thought........."What if I get engaged and then married? Will my hair grow in time?" But then I realized that with this shorter style, it grows INSANELY fast. Faster than when it's long. Or, at least, it looks that way.

My point is, cut your hair to that style that you want. (You will always wished you had if you don't!) Even at that length you can still do quite a bit of styling with it (for a wedding) Then once you get engaged, let it grow until it wont grow no more. Everything will be fine. That's what I've told myself....

DO IT!

Do it! Short hair is sexy!!!

Cut it!

Hair grows back. I have yet to acheive a colour or style that doesn't grow out. My hair grew out enough between wedding and engagement that I was able to get it back to it's natural colour (just to promptly cut and dye it again right afterward

). You have plenty of time!

I''m with the majority. Do it! Hair is hair...and it grows back. So let yourself do something for yourself. If all of a sudden you guys decide to elope in January, you can always use beautiful extensions to get back the length.

How long is the "long" you want for your wedding? How fast does your hair grow? On average, most people only get about six or seven inches of growth per year. If your hair doesn't grow very fast and you want it longer for your wedding than you have now, I wouldn't cut it. If you want your hair about as long as it is now for your wedding and your hair grows at the average rate, it'll probably have enough time to grow back out if you cut it now.

Not sure what you are planning to do with your hair for your wedding, but I think a common misconception is that you need really long hair for an updo. The opposite is actually true. While you do need a certain amount of length unless you want to use extensions (which I did and they were fabulous - I have pretty fine thin hair, so I was going to use them regardless of length), shoulder length or just below is sufficient. If you have super long hair and want an updo, it''s actually harder for the stylist because they have to hide all that hair somewhere! I think the cut you linked to is adorable and with that length, you could easily grow it enough for any updo you wanted in a few months. Go for it!

i say do it too.. plus short hair is hot in a wedding dress! who says it needs to be long? short hair is way more modern... and if you are doing an up do it''s irrelevant.

Thanks girls! I made an appt for next week, if it looks good I will post an after pic!

That happened to me! I have long hair by choice, not to do with the wedding, but had avoided trimming as often so it would be EXTRA long because I''d originally planned to wear it down and wavy. I switched to an updo at the last minute, and my poor stylist spent FOREVER trying to find ways to tuck in all my hair!

I completely agree--- cut it off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It''ll grow back :)

I actually went to get my hair cut similar to that-- well she did not take off enough and it looks like that hairstyle grown out in 6 months

LOL Anyways, it''s just hair ;) have fun with it!!

I''d do it. I love that hair style!

Can''t wait to see! I bet it''ll be gorgeous!

im kinda late but figured that i would post that i chopped my hair and loooove it. my hair is less than 2in long all over, a little longer in the front around my face. i style it messy looking. complete strangers compliment it. i will always say chop it cause it worked out so well for me. i will never have hair that hangs again!

Seriously, I know my guy loves my hair long but if a shorter cut will make me feel better then I go for it. If I''m feeling good, then he''ll be feeling good haha
