Titanium Rings Cleaning Tip

So not sure where to post this tip. I have a titanium ring with a diamond setting. Cleaning it over time seems to have made the titanium look a little darker, sort of like it has a tint. I think Kenny made a reference to them getting darker in one of his posts somewhere. Not radical but noticeable if compared to other metals. Since this is not gold or platinum, I chalked it up to something I had to live with.

I was wrong! Apparently, while titanium dose not ever rust or tarnish, it can oxidize in certain chemicals, most notably the same ones a lot of us use to clean our diamonds in, probably the ammonia based ones. The solution? METAL POLISH! I tried this just on a chance and Bam! that thing looks almost like platinum.

You need the kind that comes in a tube that is like a paste. Just rub some on and wipe off. I cannot believe how much black stuff came off in the towel. Just though I would pass this on.

I used something called MAAS Metal polish.

Thank you for the tip. My husband's first band is titanium, and we never knew how to polish it up.

Thanks for posting this. Does your ring have a finish of any kind, i.e. brushed, polished, satin? Also, no effect on the stone (doesn't scratch)?

Thanks for posting the tip.
