My fiance likes titanium wedding bands, but I think they are look cheap. I am looking for some good advice and maybe some pros and cons of each from people who are in the know. He told me this band is a really good deal, but it looks really cheap to me. I just don''t know anything about this stuff and I don''t want him to be mad at me if rusts or something.

Thank you for listening!

A lot of young guys are going with titanium these days. Has he seen any in person yet?
Mara's hubby has a titanium and diamond ring - I think.
I'm sure the ladies and gents will chime in and tell you about their experiences.

Hubbie Wedding Bands Thread

Scintillating...

They're lighter than regular bands which means they probably have a higher chance of staying on the guy! I'm considering titanium for my fi 'cause he hates the feel of jewelry. He doesn't even wear a watch!

Titanium doesn't rust and is extremely durable. It's so durable that if he does something that could seriously munch a finger he might want to think twice about a titanium ring. My sister thought about it for a while, but since she does cross-country and bad hand injuries are common she decided against one. Basically (according to her) a medic stationed at a fence or on the field, and even many paramedics, usually don't have the capability to cut off a titanium ring since it's so much stronger than normal rings. Being able to get the ring off on the field as opposed to waiting to get to the emergency room could make the difference between losing the finger or keeping it!

But most people don't do anything that could cause that type of injury. My sister just happens to do a rather dangerous sport that also tends not to be held near a hospital!

Why would he be mad at YOU if something HE wanted later didn''t please him??? Do you think they LOOK cheap or are you being influenced by the fact that they ARE cheap(er) than platinum or whatever??

Have you considered Tungsten?

Titanium is a popular option these days & I think it''s getting more popular because guys like the "techy" nature of it ... seems more BUTCH/geeky than "jewelry" grade stuff like girly GOLD or sissy PLATINUM. (Hee Hee)

Personally I''ve seen some Titanium bands with platinum inlay that looked very chic & not "cheap". But that''s just my opinion!

I don''t think titanium looks cheap whatsoever. I don''t think any metal looks "cheap". I don''t see the big difference between a plain titanium band....to a plain white gold band. Maybe it''s just the style you don''t like. Check out www.titaniumrings.com. They have some styles you might like better. I was even thinking of having them to a custom ering for me. Worrry about what you personally like rather than what you think will look cheap.

Don't you worry about that
Titanium despite BN's glossary quote "All Blue Nile titanium wedding bands are made with no alloys; they are all 100% pure titanium" is never 100% in real life, the purest is probably 99.7- 99.8 % which cost a fortune...anyway, there is always a titanium oxides (mostly TiO2) film about 10 angstroms on a titanium surface in normal ring-wearing conditions which is EXTRIMLY stable and protective. Even if/and when it's scratches off Ti oxidised back there right away.

BTW, titanium nitride is another bulletproof barrier which has shiny gold color and will not scratch away. Very chemically resistant too, except vinegar.
Anyway my girlie taste is that ring is great for men.

Both my husband and I have matching titanium rings and I don''t think they look cheap at all. Ours are from titaniumrings and they are great quality. Some B&M jewelry stores carry Tungsten and Titanium rings so you might want to check them out in person before you decide. They are extremely durable and both my husband and I love ours.

Well, I bought something very similar on ebay very inexpensively. It is pure aerospace grade titanium. Keep in mind the mark up in stores is incredible. They are not gold or platinum. This was .94 + $10.50 shipping. Looks very similar to what your link is above. I just ordered another in a different style also. So.. if you are interested, check ebay . There are also many better than what I bought, however I am only saying that about titanium auctions.

This is the other I just bought for .96 cents plus $10.50. It is also pure aerospace grade titanium. It is fun to switch off. I keep the expensive one safe...
