I purchased my diamond from a pricescope vendor approximately 4 years ago. And I am WAY past due for an upgrade.

In looking at this vendors current stock over the past 6th months, there is ONE stone that I *might* be interested in. But, other Pricescope vendors have a couple of vendors that I would be interested in. My current stone is under a lifetime trade up situation, and I want to use it :-) Hopefully doubling the size of my current ring and blinging up the setting that we put it in as well. I'm going DIAMONDIVA (or so my family calls me... when I start getting that odd stare at my screen that boyfriends, husbands, or significant others get right before they get busted for watching **** and not inviting the other part of the couple to join in the fun. LOL

So sad... hubby says we need to put an 18+ year check on registration forms. LOL

Anyway - questions put aside.

What is appropriate ettiquette in this situation? Approach your current vendor with the specifics, inventory numbers, dimensions, etc of the stone to see if they might be able to acquire it and sell it for the same price with the lifetime warranty as well? Approach the other vendor that currently has the diamond and see what kind of trade in value they will give me, considering the other place will give me 100% of my purchase price.

I've never been in this spot before... and before I go begging that hubby buys me both diamonds... MUAHAHAHA!!! I need to see what realistic options are available. :-)

Thanks sweeties, and fellow sparklie lovers

You have the right idea, when you are ready let the vendor you used previously know what you are looking for. They'll surely be able to get it.

I assume it is a virtual stone? In that case, just call the vendor with whom you have the policy and ask them to call it in. If it in an in house stone, then I would ask the vendor with whom you have the trade in policy to find you a similar diamond. Unless your desired specs are really strange or really rare there are usually many diamonds that can fit your parameters. I think in most cases it is not worth trying to get trade in value for your diamond with another vendor. You will doubtless lose money in the deal over what you would get in credit with the original vendor.
