Tiffany Soleste Yellow Diamond Ring?

In my quest for my dream RHR, I am considering getting the Tiffany Soleste ring---either with a yellow diamond or a white diamond, depending on cost.

I called Tiffany Customer Service a few months ago and spoke with one of their diamond experts. I asked if they still had any yellow diamond Soleste rings with smaller stones (about half a carat). (I remember when the Soleste yellow diamond ring first came out, they had a version selling for $7100). She told me that all of the smaller yellow diamond Solestes had sold out. At the time that I called, the cheapest stone they had was almost two carats and cost $30,000. That's far more than I want to spend.

I've noticed that on Tiffany's website, there are now a few somewhat smaller center stones. There's a .70 ct. yellow diamond center stone Soleste selling for $12,100. Still, with sales tax, that would be a bit over $13,000. Still pretty pricy for a ring.

Does anyone know if Tiffany's is still making the yellow diamond Soleste with a smaller center stone (i.e. half carat)?

I must say that I absolutely LOVE Tiffany jewelry and the Soleste appears to have lots of sparkle. I've seen videos of both the yellow and the white diamond versions posted on youtube and they look fabulous! One was of a yellow diamond .97 center stone, which I'm guessing was pretty expensive. The white diamond Soleste was G color and VSI, and it had a half carat center stone. It looked great, too! The girl said it cost 6,000, but I know that Tiffany's website says that half carat Solestes start at around $7100. It was a recent post, but maybe she purchased it before one of Tiffany's price hikes.

I wanted to ask if anyone here owns the Tiffany Soleste ring, in either white or yellow diamond. In one post, a girl who owned a beautiful Soleste said that the pave catches on her clothes. I think that might bother me a litle bit. Do you find this to be problem? Is it comfortable to wear?

Do the smaller Solestes (half a carat or even less) still look rather substantial due to the double halo? That double halo provides great finger coverage and LOTS of sparkle, so this may indeed be the ring that I purchase.

Finally, does the white diamond center stone get lost in all the bling, while the yellow center stone stands out a bit more? That's what I've heard. I may wish to get the yellow diamond Soleste for this reason, but not unless they make it with a smaller center stone. 13k for a ring seems pretty ridiculous, but I think that Tiffany's merchandise is worth the price.

Any opinions and advice is welcome!

WHy not contact DBL and see if they can make you a similar piece?

I looked at the Soleste when I decided on getting a double halo with FLY for the birth of my daughter. I went to a few Tiffany's but honestly I have DSS and I just couldn't justify the 20k for the 1 carat version. Plus I really didn't like the yellow diamonds they used. They were beautiful by all means but they weren't the light lemonade color I was looking for. I ended up getting .93ct FLY from Diamonds by Lauren and had Whiteflash make a different double halo ring (not based off the soleste). With that said several PSer's have real Soleste's that I think are very nice. I don't remember reading anything negative about them. However, I know of other PSers that have had Custom Soleste's made either my Diamonds by Lauren or their local bench that cost a fraction of the price and in my opinion are nicer than the Tiffany's.

I would post threads but I can't seem to get the search function to work  If you look in the halo thread I think there are several posted there.

With Tiffany you are limited to what they have in stock. If they don't have a .5 center stone, your options are to buy what they have, wait around for them to make the ring with the size of stone you want (and who knows when that could happen - it could be years), or get a replica made elsewhere. Most people on PS just skip straight to the third option.

Thanks for the info. I will definitely consider DBL.

I like Wintotty's ring the best. As I recall the stats are: .79 Fancy Yellow, VSI and the pave stones are E-F VSI. I think I'd like to stay with high quality stones like these.

Does anyone have any idea how much this ring cost? (Sorry if that's not a polite question; I'm rather new to Pricescope) :).

I know that with those stats, Tiffany's Soleste would easily cost at least $13,000.

I'm just curious how much I could really save by going with DBL.

Thanks for any info re: pricing!

It is fine to ask, but I don't recall her giving any pricing info. I imagine you could call DBL and just ask the approximate price of a setting like that as well as diamonds they might have around that size. I would guess the total would be less than $8000.

The pricing would really depend on your center stone. Would you get a FLY or a FIY etc. That will dicate the pricing. But regardless I'm sure it will be at least 30% cheaper then Tiffany's...once again it could be alot less pending the size and coloring of your center.

Hi Eva,
I love going into the really swanky stores on 57th street here in NYC.
No question that there's a value and a cost to such a shopping experience.

I think the best online dealers are a lot less costly- yet you don't get the same incredible store to walk into.

As a general rule of quality, and fancy colored diamonds:
When considering clarity, its' not really the same as with colorless stones.
Sometimes a Fancy Yellow SI1 can be more desirable than a Fancy Yellow Internally Flawless- for reasons of cut , color and brilliance. For this reason, sometimes the SI1 an actually cost more than a flawless.

Shout out to DS, SarahBear and Enerchi :wavey:

I was at Tiffany's a couple of days ago to admire the Soleste. The Pasadena, CA location only had the yellow diamond ones in stock. They had a couple over a carat and another that was about half a carat. I didn't inquire about pricing because I wasn't interested in a yellow diamond. She said that the white diamonds get sold really quickly.

I asked them for pricing and availability for a smaller size center, under 1 carat. She pulled up a long list of the available inventory. There was at least 50 stones ranging from 0.3--0.7carat (center stone) in the colorless range. I saw one SI clarity too. I got a quote for a 0.41ct F VS2 for $5500. She showed me the numbers on their report, but it didn't make much sense to me, so I didn't take note of those stats.

She offered to source the ring so I can take a look at it, stating that it takes just a couple of days. The sales person was very nice.

I got bitten by the Tiffany Soleste bug when I first saw it inat the Tiffanys in Maui a couple of weeks ago. And now I've been trying to find vendors who can replicate the look but with a round diamond. I love cushions but am scared to buy one because I know nothing about it and from what I learned here on PS, you can't go by the numbers, and I don't trust my eyes yet, and don't have time to go look at a bunch of them to train my eyes. So, I'm thinking of finding someone who can do the squarish double halo but to surround a round diamond.

Anyway, I digress. I just wanted to tell you about my recent Tiffany's experience and that it seems like they have a pretty good inventory of the under 1 carat Soleste in both yellow and white diamond.

@Eva14 - I have a FLY set with double halo too, after falling in love with the Soleste. I concur with sarahbear621 that you will be able to have a similar looking ring made at a much better price.

@poprocks - have you seen a round stone with squarish halos? Just wondering if it will excite you the same way the Soleste does. I had little knowledge about cushions when I created my ring but the search for the stone was a fun experience. It was fascinating to see how the same ct cushions can look totally different. With fancy cut diamonds, I believe it's all about what appeals to you ;)

@Elam: No, I haven't seen a squarish halo on a round. Well I think I saw a picture of it once here on PS but it was a bigger size stone (over 1 ct for sure). Gosh, now you are really motivating me to go out there and find that perfect cushion because that IS the look of the soleste that I fell in love with after all. Hmmm....

P.S. This may sound like a dumb question but what is a FLY ring? Is it a type of special cut?
