I recently came across a very nice Tiffany & Co. estate ring and was hoping you guys could tell me what a fair price would be. It was a 1.50 solataire set in the Tiffany Knife Edge platinum setting. The specs on the diamond were:

1.50ct
H color
VS2 clarity
60.6% depth
59% table
medium to thick girdle
no culet
very good polish
very good symmetry
faint flourescence

I realize that there are better stones available and that the Tiffany name will bring a substantial increase in price, so I''m not too concerned about either of those facts. It''s a very pretty diamond in person and I really would just like to know what you think a fair price for this would be. Thanks!

What are they asking for it???

Hello! If a regular retail jeweler is selling it, I''m guessing that the price would be at least $9500.00 USD.

Oh I would have thought more then that.....How much are they asking? Is it in your price range?

They had it listed at $13,500, but her estate pieces are negotiable so I feel like I could do better than that. It is in the budget and the Tiffany setting is perfect. I can''t believe how much better the Tiffany solitaire setting is than the replicas.

I would say go for it. The tiffanys ettting is stunning and classic. Let us know how it turns out!

Hetty purchased a vintage tiffany ring for a little over $12k. If you can get the price down a bit and you love it i say go for it.
here''s hetty''s ring thread which notes some things to look for thread

That''s not a bad price for a 1.50 stone. See if they''ll come down a bit. I would go for it!!! Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thank you everyone for your opinions so far. I think I can get it down to $12-12,500 so it would probably be a good price. I''ll let everyone know what happens.

There is added value in the provenance. If it is indeed a ring and diamond manufactured and originally sold by Tiffany & Co. (which I am not saying it isn''t) you should expect to pay a premium for the pedigree. I would ask for proof of provenance before I paid a premium for it.

I saw the original Tiffany Certificate for the stone if that''s what you mean, and it''s definitely an original Tiffany setting.
