I''ve had a couple posts asking about settings and in these posts I''ve indicated that I wanted some feedback from the stone that I put on hold at GOG over the weekend that I''m looking to mount. Well I''ve got the link, so I''d love to hear what you guys think.

The funny part of all this is that Jonathan initially brought out two stones to show us the features to look for in H&A with the idealscope, ASET, and the gia examination box. This stone coincidently was the one he picked as the good example. He then brought out examples of solafera, eighternity, and star129. I liked the eighternity and H&A the best so we did a search for diamonds that I wanted to see online and when he came back it turned out that his "good" example stone which we were looking at earlier was one of the ones I picked out online. Its a fantastic stone and it was VERY hard to see color difference unless the stone was turned upside down. The inclusions are also minor even at 10x. Even though the other stones were beautiful and had characteristics that we could find if we looked with various stringent lighting conditions or tools I couldn''t justify nearly a $2000 increase in price over this fantastic stone. After its all said and done if I pay the balance by wire, it''ll end up about 5k total for the stone.

That is a smashing diamond, can''t go wrong with that one!

Can you post the actual link, this just brings me back to this post, again.

Or, I could just ditto Lorelei, I trust her judgement.

Sorry, here is the link

Hope that works.
It did, thanks. It must be my browser, that's not the first time I've gotten brought back to a post, but others get the website...

Anywho, I'm not familiar with these, but since you saw it and loved it, say no more. Sounds like a keeper!

Shoot, I posted the wrong link Ellen. I was just clicking around and when I pasted the link in for my reply to you, it was the wrong diamond. Here is the correct one.

I bet you''re more familiar with that one. :) Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks....now I just need to pair it with the setting.

Here are my leading candidates:

Great job on the stone!

Precision set setting

There are a couple more settings that look similar to these by both Vatche and Precision set, but these are my favorites so far. I'm hoping the stone will look good in one of these with the channel diamonds, although I haven't ruled out a straight up solitare either. Are there any other designers that make similar rings to these that I should be considering? Thanks for all the positive comments.

I love both of the Precision Set sets over the Vatche, because I like bead-set stones SO much more than channel set. Plus, if you have diamonds in the bands, I prefer thinner shanks.

This is my favorite, as you know.

Either would be gorgeous with your stone, but I personally prefer the millgrained edge. (on my left) Do you think she would have a preference?

I think you''ve got two great setting designers to choose from.

She''ll like either of them. One of my main concerns, and nothing to be concerned with is that the stone in the precision set settings is cast up higher than with the Vatche. That in itself isn''t a bother, but will that feature make it more difficult to wear for during activities, and work and such? Of course, that''s only my perception, its entirely possible that the Vatche sits up higher and I just can''t tell from the limited views that I have.

I shouldn''t stress about this too much though, as you''re right-- they are both excellent settings.

Call GOG and ask them how high each sits. If they don''t know, they should be able to find out for you.

great stone, great setting.
great job!! i think your about set

Everything looks fantastic - diamond and settings (either of them)

You have done an incredible job so far. This ring is going to be amazing!

If her work is such that could damage her rings, then she might want to have a plain wedding band to wear to work. But the Precision Set rings are just fine for normal wear. They aren''t too high.
