Thoughts on this OMC 3-stone suite?

Can you rotate the left one by 45 degrees?

I’d like to see a picture of that.

I just realized the sides aren’t both the Truab stones. Would also like to those together lol.

I want to see them too! But not with an ONC center.

No the size difference would not bother me. You can set them to obscure it anyway. As you know from buying the traub twins, stones often are not perfectly matched in antiques.

The size wouldn't bother me. I agree with everyone else setting the sides NS. If the side stones are slightly tilted and tucked in you wouldn't even notice the difference in size.

Andria Barbone's Marielle is an amazing example of a 3 stone.

The size difference wouldn't bother me at all, but the difference in the shape might, so I'd also like to see the left one rotated. Also, what kind of setting are you thinking of? That might make the shape difference less noticeable.

It’s funny, I see people talking about this ring all the time and I feel like the reason it looks so fantastic is they always hav massive diamonds in it :lol-2:
At least in photos I haven’t found the finish on their pieces that spectacular. And there are versions of that style of ring from many jewlers. But I’ve never seen one of their rings in person of course!

I'm taking setting suggestions! Lol
I'm thinking about Kelty Pelchytik's Camille, or something similar from DK if working across the border proves too difficult or costly, but I'm really loving her style these days.

I should be able to get new pictures of the stones tomorrow.

I totally agree re massive diamonds lol my favourite three stone had a 5ct centre lmao.

You know what hahaha I haven't seen any of their rings in person either. And I don't know anyone on PS who has bought from them. If I was ever getting a three stone ring made I'll go to DK.

AB will only work with stones they source, and won't work with a customer's stones. I think that turns off PS folks (not to mention their eye-watering prices).

I think someone asked and they would set their stone. But yes their prices are out of this world. We know better than to pay for overpriced things lol.

I asked AB to set Flora… the first person said possibly, and then the second said they don’t set outside stones. I even tried to sweeten the deal with buying a band she has that I want, lol! VC doesn’t work with outside stones either.

Someday when I retire I want to work at AB just to be surrounded by old cuts. That way when an amazing faint pink brown pear comes in, I can grab it for myself before it hits the site :lol-2:

David didn’t hesitate when I sent him a picture of her, lol! I would work with him again in a heart beat.

One other thing to throw out there…. Erika Winters makes a beautiful 3 stone Margot. But that will be 3X the price.

I love this and have something similar (not quite collets but antiqued) with much smaller sides, made by DK. I think any of the differences will not be noticeable with this type of setting.
This is mine, and he can definitely make something like your inspiration.

@lala646 I love your stones! What a fun trio. I agree with @newtojewels, I prefer them in N/S orientation, however, I don’t mind them E/W either. My side stones are slightly different (though smaller size than yours) but I do not notice the difference, especially once set.

@Dreamer_D I agree about AB Marielle! I always looked at them for my own inspo and kept realizing, no I just really like those giant stones…which I mean, duh. Lol

I think the one on the right is basically square, only a .1mm difference, so orientation may not make much difference.

That said I don't have any issue with this pairing, especially if the sides are angles and tucked a little it will be even less apparent. Like, what are you gonna do?? Just order up another I color OMC?? Good luck with that!

Where did you find all these beauties?

I LOVE THIS!!! The faceting is absolutely dreamy :kiss2:

Can you turn the right one? I’d love to see if we can see a difference… probably not, just curious.

These are OMC “I” :eek2:

They were all separate purchases, and I was trying to "shop my closet" and was looking at their reports and thought huh, these should all look fairly good together. And this is why I get the GIA reports.

The center came from this ring from TRR:

The 0.92 came from this ring from Blue Ribbon Numismatics:

And the 0.93 was a very fraught purchase from RetroGem on IG that some will remember the saga from over in the Somebody's Gotta Buy This Piece thread.

Did the side stones in the sapphire ring not match?

Once I got them out of the setting, one was a cushion and the other a circular brilliant. The CB is more shallow, with a wider table.

lol… Matching!! o_O

Friends, can I get honest opinions on this suite? Would the difference in the sizes of the two side stones bother you?

1.56 K SI1 CB - 7.04 x 6.89 x 4.64
0.92 I VS1 OMB - 5.87 x 5.75 x 4.04
0.93 I SI1 OMB - 5.80 x 5.45 x 4.08

Hopefully you can see the little video of the stones here:

The Japanese term “Wabi Sabi” is a term I have seen used in all aspects design over the last couple of years. Essentially, it means perfectly imperfect. I believe especially because of all the “perfect” lab diamonds out there, many of us have grown to appreciate the history and beautiful imperfectness of antique stones. It will be a lovely ring.
