Thoughts on this ASET of a Cushion?

I'm considering this diamond and would greatly appreciate any thoughts on the ASET image. Is there too much blue in this Cushion Brilliant? And would that mean that the diamond had a 'x' like dark zone in person?

I'm more concerned about the green and white. The white means leakage. The green means "not sparkly in most lighting situations" (green means sparkles with low angle light -- like at sunset).

You want mostly red, with a little green (you have too much here) and some blue (your blue ratio is a little high, but better blue than white or green).

I would pass on this one.

I think this is really pretty good for a non-branded cushion. I would keep it in consideration. It has quite a bit of red for a fancy - not top top ideal, but really pretty good. What does the vendor say about it's performance?

What would *maybe* make me consider something else though, it seems like there's a small ring of green around the edges. Green doesn't take in and reflect light as well, since it's drawing light from lower angles. This could mean your stone may look ever so slightly smaller because the edges are not always reflecting a lot of light back. But, this is just one still Aset shot. For all I know, the edges could flicker red and green, and be beautiful in person.

With all fancies, unless they're branded top performers (H&A cushion cuts, August vintages, etc.), it's going to be difficult to find and obtain one with some type of ideal light performance. This is the sacrifice most of us have to make for not choosing a round brilliant (or paying a branded premium, lowering carat weight wants, etc.).

Thanks for the feedback. I'm very much hoping for a 4 main cushion and this one is very slightly larger than what I was looking for so if it appeared smaller - I think I'd be ok with it.

As for what the vendor said about it, "It is a very nice diamond with nice brilliance for a cushion." Not exactly thrilling and I am looking for something that's very well cut. But it might be worth seeing it in person. :) I'll have to give it some thought.

Huh. I was going to say, "Welcome back, CCL" but it looks like he's deleted his post...

But...then why pay for the extra ct weight? You're getting a larger diamond that looks smaller and you're paying for the privilege? :errrr:

Well, CCL - coming or going?

If it helps, and maybe CCL thought this too, the stone does seem to be slightly off in the Aset image (slightly left leaning). I was going to leave this part out because it seems way too technical to be helpful and it's still a nice Aset.

But see how there's more red on the left edge than the right. If the stone were balanced properly, perhaps both Left and Right edges would be red - or perhaps both would be green, or something else. I wouldn't necessarily ask the vendor to take another photo since really, the cushion will be moving on your hand (unless you plan to only view from the straight up, straight all the time). This particular Aset represents one particular angle - a slightly left leaning one, and it's nice.

If you have time, given the vendor's comments, feel free to look at others and posts those Asets here as well.
