lower girdles are on the short side but it qualifies for h&a.
IS looks good
Angles are good
It gets AGS0
With the short lowers if is going to tend more towards larger flashes than some ideal-cuts.
It also has a bit more dark zones then some.
It is a bit different look than a lot of ideal-cuts.

Thanks for the feedback! What does it mean that it will have larger flashes? How will that effect performance? Is that a good thing or bad thing?
Also, what are dark zones? If it's ideal cut and H&A, it really shouldn't have dark zones right?

Karl, identity crisis?
its personal preference.
It will have bolder flashes than some and in some lighting where the arrows pop will look a bit darker.
Dark zones are areas that show obstruction or leakage or are less bright that provide contrast, in that diamond that would mainly be the arrows showing obstruction.
Some love the larger arrow look some don''t.
Nope, obstruction is where light is blocked from reaching the diamond by the viewer''s head and never enters the stone. Leakage is where the light enters the diamond, but is not reflected back to the viewer. Obstruction occurs at certain focal distances and angles, dependent on a variety of cutting factors.Date: 10/10/2009 11:00:11 PM

Karl, thanks! So this stone does have some light leakage, am I understanding this correctly? Would you buy a stone like this or pass it up for something better?

What it means for this stone is that the flashes of fire and scintillation will be slightly larger than a diamond with longer lower halves, but will also be slightly fewer in frequency. Some people, including myself, like this look, others prefer a more splintered look from long lowers. No wrong answer, and truth be told, you probably would not notice unless viewing side by side or having looked at a lot of diamonds.
It is a well cut diamond and should be a high performing stone.
I believe that as a professional Karl can no longer state his personal preference in a go/no go manner. He has correctly given you much information above as to how it is different, but it is now up to you decide if you like this look or another. Other non professionals can give you their preferences, but the rules of the forum prevent us from giving our personal up or down votes.Date: 10/10/2009 11:00:11 PM
