I have already purchased my diamond. I was wondering if anyone has used Jared. I want to go to someone local to buy a setting and have it set, so I can a place to take it every 6 months. I would appreciate any input. Thanks!
I have never been to them, but I just have to say that I freakin'' HATE their commercials, so corny and lame.
Anyways, now that I''m done being a brat
I prefer finding a family owned or mom and pop place to take my stuff. I just feel like if you can find a reputable, local shop you may tend to get better service as some chains go through staff a lot and you probably won''t develop a relationship with someone using a chain (I could be wrong though!)
JMO because I''ve had great experiences with long-standing locally owned places where I know the people, run into them socially, and really trust them with my stuff. I got my ring in So. Cal. and live in Nor. Cal. so it was important for me to find a place locally so I wouldn''t have to ship my ring anymore.
I''m sorry, but everytime I try the search function I get an error message. I agree with you BriBee, I prefer mom and pop places too. However, I am a medical student and will be moving 4-5 times over the next 10 years, so I need to find an evil chain that will likely be where we end up...
What about finding a setting through a good PS vendor? If you can post pics of what you want, I'm sure people on here can help you find a vendor that will be able to make something beautiful. I think you'll also get better quality and guarantees and return policies going through a PS vendor, and probably better prices too. Even though you'll be moving a lot, I would still advocate a non-chain, and then hopefully when you settle in somewhere you can find a local jeweler to develop a relationship with.
Thanks for your advice! My plan is to get a really simple setting to propose with and then go shopping with my gf to let her choose a setting she loves. Maybe I will get an idea of what she likes and then check out the vendors on PS. Thanks for your help, I think I just talked myself into it!
My best friend's DH bought her engagement ring there and she loves it. He could have done better online regarding the diamond, but she wanted a specific setting that only Jared, and he wanted to get the diamond at the same store. But they were very happy with it.
Another couple we know bought an e-ring there (this was about 5 years ago) and they were happy as well. Their only problem was Jared didn't polish the ring after it was set. But they took it back and Jared's cleaned it right up.
I wouldn't buy a diamond there, but I would buy a setting there and have them set it.
ETA: My DH bought my Omega watch there, and he was very hapy with their service!
I have bought settings from them and had stones set, they have always done a great job. My BIL bought my sister an anniversary band there a few years ago and she loves the ring and Jared (it is very pretty, BTW...very sparkly). I have also purchsed watches there, one being an Omega that had a manufacturer defect that showed up after I had already worn the watch for 6 months. Jared gave me a brand new one on the spot, no questions asked.
I would not buy a diamond there, but settings and other things, sure!
My original ering setting and wedding band were purchased at Jared..............I had NOTHING but problems with them..........both the jewelry itself and especially the staff at Jared''s. I would strongly suggest going elsewhere. I, as other friends of mine have been, was inticed by the selection. Well, poor quality and even worse service is what I got.
I went in there recently with FI so he could try on some different rings. The salespeople were lovely, but I have to say that the settings left a lot to be desired. I tried on several wedding bands just for fun, and the shared-prongs looked horrendous, especially next to my e-ring. I wouldn''t purchase anything there after seeing their pieces. I think it would be well worth finding a trusted PS vendor.
I find them overpriced for only decent quality. Probably would not buy from them, but it totally depends on you, the ring, the actual diamond, and the sales associate.
I had a lovely experience at Jared''s. The sales staff ws top notch and really cared about helping me find the perfect setting, which I did (Tacori 2507RD. However, we did not purchase from Jared.
We left the store to think things over, came home, found Pricescope and learned loads more than we ever though possible about buying diamonds! I am grateful to Jared for allowing me to browse without being pushy. It was great to be able to see and try on "my" ring before purchasing it online. So, all in all, I think Jared is a great place to start your search, but realize that you may be able to actually get better quality stones and great customer service, as well as better pricing from an online vendor.
i purchased a beautiful peerless diamond from jared. i got a great price, friendly sales associate, lifetime warrenty, lifetime trade up policy, 0% financing for a year and my diamond was set and sized within 2 hours!!!! i price compared my 1.01ct E/VS1 ideal cut (with AGS cert, laser inscription and Gem Ex cert) and no online retailer could match their price! i even got a thank you card and a call from the associate i worked with!!! i cant imagine why anyone would shop anywhere else! i highly encourage anyone looking for a great diamond and experience to shop at jared. The sales associate was very educated and not pushy at all. she listened to what i wanted and spent ALOT of time with me. they even have a virtual system with over 6 thousand diamonds to choose from! we didnt buy the day we went in, but after shopping around at other local jewelers and online we decided to go back to jared and will continue to do so in the future.
