Just looking for some opinions on the diamonds performance. Been playing around trying to learn how to go about getting a good emerald cut and finally have some images to work with... thoughts?

I could be wrong- so an expert please correct me- but I think the grey areas are actually leakage.... If that is true, then you have leakage all through the center areas... I don't know how that affects an emerald cut.

Someone else chime in?

I'm a bit confused too. I'm trying to figure out whether the gray/black center in both images is contrast (fine/good) or leakage (bad). It looks like there's a tiny bit of white coming through each of the images, so leakage should be white. I guess that means the black/gray is contrast then? Why isn't it blue in the Aset?

I would check with Whiteflash as to whether the center is reflecting or leaking light. If it's leaking, that's too big a patch in a two carat for my taste.

I've heard that sometimes with emerald cuts it's best to see a video of the stone to see if the darker areas stay dark under various common tilt angles. If the dark areas do light up within a range of normal viewing angles the the stone could be a winner.
It looks like there's pretty good light return from the corners.

I think Karl K is pretty good with emeralds, if he sees this thread.
