Thoughts on custom eternity band reset

Up next on my jewelry box makeover is resetting these eternity bands into a ring I love (I was going to sell but decided to give the ring another chance with a reset). I wear this stack on my right hand and not everyday do to my job (I wear gloves and am right handed so it is a problem). When it comes time to wear the rings I cannot stand the feel of all the prongs! Drives me nuts!! I look it to a local custom jeweler and discussed some ideas. Please give me your thought..


The three bands stacked together are 8mm, which is a bit too wide on my finger. The emerald cut band is 4cts and 4mm wide, a bit too narrow. One round diamond band and the emerald cut band is 6mm wide which looks good width wise, so the goal width is between 5.5-6mm. The emerald cut band will be reset to a half bezel with stones going vertical, then the round diamonds will be placed on both sides of the shank.

1. the existing bands: 2 round diamond bands (1ct) and one emerald cut band (4ct)

2. A picture of the emerald cut with red dots where the round diamonds would go on each side of the ring. So when it on face down you see emeralds and from either side you see round.

I’m not going to be terribly helpful, but I’ve got many many bands and the ones I most enjoy stacking are nice, smooth channel set bands. Easy to wear, easy to stack. Good luck. I’m sure some very creative ppl will chime in.

I will +1 this! I love my channel set eternity bands. So comfy and easy to wear with no worries of losing stones or rubbing on adjacent fingers.

Oooh I like the diamonds on the side like you have placed, I would love an emerald cut band, 4 carats! I believe a band should be comfortable and I think it would be a lot more comfortable with the diamonds set in bezel, much smoother.... Like MM I'm not the best person when it comes to these things, but I do like the idea of one ring too! can't wait to read what you do and see pix! when done.

One thing to consider is how high (from finger to top of ring) this new ring will be. The higher it is, the more it will crowd/push/rub on your adjoining fingers. It appears that it will be substantially taller than the current u-prong emerald cut eternity band.

What if you set the ECs side to side? That would narrow the ring. You could keep the rounds as is and just reset the EC.


Alternatively, what about alternating the ECS with two rounds per EC?



I love the idea of the rounds on the sides, but it will really make the setting thicker between your fingers. I can't see the base of your fingers, but make sure you try out a very thick band before going too far into this design.

Agree with @rockysalamander. If you dont like the feeling of prongs between your fingers I can imagine that you're going to like the feeling of diamonds
between your fingers.

okay here are the first pics back... the modification that will be made is the plat bands on both sides of the bezel are going to be made thinner and if possible removed.

Thoughts....

the reset is pricy and has me considering trading all three bands in a getting a single emerald cut eternity band with either 0.3s or 0.4s. (not sure what total caret weight will be with either band cause of sizing, I would think 7(.3s) or 8 (.4s) carats). I would where this larger band alone on my right hand. Thoughts on this idea?...
