Hi,

I have a 1.07 carat cushion as the stone for my e-ring which I''m currently looking to re-set. (The first setting is a long and somewhat upsetting story for another day.) I''m going to be going with a pave solitaire setting. What size melee would look sparkly and substantial enough without overpowering my diamond? Please take into account that I would also want a matching or similar wedding band eventually to go with the e-ring. I''m thinking I''ll probably end up with a 2.2 or 2.3 width, so what size melee should I go with? I definitely want to see as little metal as possible.

Any advice is much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Do you mean something like this?

the above picture has a 1.31 Cushion, in an Ingwer setting

Yes, definitely. That is very pretty. Do you know how thick the band is or how big the melee is in it?

I have a 2 ct cushion with 4 ct shared prong RBs set in the band.
I''d think that 2 or 3 pointers would look perfect with your stone--can your jeweler show you any rings with various melee sizes?

Hi! I have a 1.7 (6.81x7.19) cushion where I used 1.2 mm melee in the halo and 1.8 mm in the shank so you can see my previous posts for size comparisons. I LOVE the size of my band!! I''m also going to get the matching WB. Hope that helps :)

Are you close to a jeweler that carries a lot of designer settings? melee size can really make a difference in how a ring will look. a 2 or 3 pointer will have a more sparkle and the pave bands like the Ritani''s don''t even use one point diamonds and I would describe them as more of a shimmer. Going to see what you like in person and on your hand really is the best way to decide if it''s at all possible IMO.

Thanks for the feedback so far! My current setting actually has half point melee (like the Ritani) so I know I want more sparkle than that. I''m debating between one and a half points or two points for my new setting but am thinking I may just go with 2. I want my setting to sparkle but not overpower my cushion. I plan to look around at a few more jewelers and will probably end up going custom for the project.

If anyone else wants to weigh in, feel free!
