Thoughts on a diamond - SI1 eyeclean?

Nothing has changed. The 1.27 E SI1 is still my favourite in this thread. I expected you would go with this one. That is why I have been quiet and just spectated.

As you know, GIA averages and rounds 8 PAs. This means some PA can as low as 40.4 or even 40.3 for a stone with GIA 40.6 PA.
When PA is that low, two things can happen. First, the arrows remain dark and persist even at full arm's length. Second, you can get more obstruction especially around the arrowheads.

Now, it is not just about PA. CA also plays a significant role. Note that the stone above has 34 CA, 40.6 PA, 59TB and 59 Depth. It is shallow with shallow CA and shallow PA combo.

Yours is 35 CA and 40.6 PA. At least, it does not have the second issue around the arrowhead. The video and IS confirm that. I would not worry about obstruction with your stone. Mine is 34.9/40.5. It has zero issue and all arrows light up from a reasonable viewing distance just fine.

95% of the time when a member has a concern about darkness and obstruction, it is due to lighting and photography conditions, not due to PA.

Received the ring and it looks great! Thanks for all the help in this thread
It's very clean, icy white and sparkly. Had a quick look under aset and idealscope it looks good too. My brother is very happy. The setting looks well made and prongs are delicate but they didn't align the arrows in offset position as I requested.. not a dealbreaker I guess.

I want to do my due diligence before he proposes and while we're still in the return period - what should I be looking for? I am trying to see if it has obstruction problems but can't really tell. I've attached some pics

That would be my 0.8 J SI1! It faces up white to me but not when compared to an E.

Does it look like it has obstruction issues?

I do not see any issue, do you?
Looks identical to your J with the exception of being white and larger.

Funnily HPD now have a future 1.28 H SI2 for the same price that would have been perfect one month ago haha. Doh

That is 3 color grades lower and SI2. Not even comparable.
