So I've really been doing my homework and hope I've found the perfect Diamond. I've learned from the things other have pointed out in my previous thread and was hoping to get some input.

Unfortunately there's no current image on JamesAllen but I've already put in a request for a Loupe, IS image and GG review of the diamond to confirm it is eye clean.

Here are the specs:

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-VS2-Excellent-Cut-Round-Diamond-1516567.asp

Carat Weight: 1.01
Cut: Excellent
Color: I
Clarity: VS2

Depth: 61.9%
Table: 56.0%
Crown Angle: 35%
Pavilion Angle: 40.6%
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Girdle: Medium
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None

HCA Score: 0.9 (TIC)

PS Price: $5360

My only concern is in the comments on the GIA certificate it mentions clouds are not shown. I'm hoping at the VS2 Clarity level - the clouds are not visible and more importantly - don't affect the diamonds performance.

If someone can please provide any input, comments on the price for the diamond, etc... it would be greatly appreciated! Once I receive the images - I'll post the results.

Thanks!
Danny

that seems like a really good price given the clarity and size. some of the experts should weigh in on the angles though

The numbers look promising, but the IS image will give more information.

Just curious, at the VS2 level I think it's safe to say that the clouds will not be visible correct?

Can you say the same thing though for the clouds not affecting the performance?

Fingers crossed!

Virtual Loupe Image is now up:

Could someone please comment on a few things I noticed:

edit1516567scope.jpg

#1. the somewhat "wonky" shape of the table? Is that just how the picture was taken?

#2 I notice the "arm" of the arrow at the 2 and 9 o'clock positions doesn't really line up with the "head" of the arrow. Again is this just how the image was taken or is it a Cut/Symmetry Issue?

#3. Is this just dust?

Looking forward to some comments!

Danny

I think that the image looks fine. It's not a HA stone, so it won't have the same optical symmetry that an H&A would and that's why your seeing slight deviations in the arrow formations. It's very difficult to see this IRL though.

Its possible that you're seeing dust but I think it's more likely the feathers that are indicated on the plot diagram. The GG will be able to tell you more when he does his evaluation. Did you communicate what your definition of eye clean was? Most VS2's will be eye clean, but there are cases were there may be visible inclusions. This image is very enlarged and I think it's unlikely that you will be able to see anything in the stone, but only the GG will be able to tell you that.

Like Christina said....its not being sold as an H&A. If you want that level of cut you will end up paying more. The things you
pointed out will probably be hard to see in person.

Thanks for the input - I'm curious though why a stone with Excellent symmetry would still have such a noticeable deviation in the arrows.

Other than that though - what do you guys think?

Hi Christina, I'm always grateful when you give your input!

Just curious what you mean when you say IRL?

A google search came up with "In Real Life", now I feel silly! Sorry!

That's good news though!

What distance should I be asking the GG to inspect for eye clean?

That depends on how close it matters to you.

Here is a good pricescope article on the subject
https://www.pricescope.com/journal/what_eye_clean_diamond

The conclusion for an average definition was this:

No inclusions visible to the unaided eye when viewed from the face up position in daylight equivalent or fluorescent lighting from approximately 6-12 inches from the eye using 20/20 vision.
