Thoughts and feedback on WF Petite Champagne Ring in Canada

Hi Everybody,

I've been lurking on these forums for the past few weeks, and have finally mustered the courage to ask for some help. I'm searching for an engagement ring for my girlfriend, and have decided that purchasing from a reputable dealer, like Whiteflash, is safe and will save me money. As a very technical (and frugal) person, I rely on specifications to aid me on this quest. My requirements are: 3-stone platinum ring, 1CT center stone, G/H, VS2+, Ideal/Excellent cut, less than 2 on the HCA. My budget is about $10k (Canadian), but I'm comfortable extending that to $11k, if necessary. My girlfriend is small (about 5'2") and wears a size 7 ring.

I've spend countless hours analyzing the specs of diamonds, but I'm still a bit apprehensive purchasing a diamond/ring online without seeing it first. Could anybody provide me some feedback on the following combination: http://www.whiteflash.com/friends-share.aspx?building_0=1Z2531916_diamond-129_jewelry&IsFriend=true

I started off with a simple 3-stone setting, but I showed my girlfriend the petite champagne, and she fell in love. Here are my questions:
0. What are your thoughts on the diamond? Is there something else I need to consider?
1. Are there any Canadians that have had experience purchasing from WF (or from the US, for that matter)? If so, have you run into any issues with build quality, returns, shipping, etc.? Did you purchase the diamond and setting from the same vendor, or did you have the stone set in Canada?
2. How reliable is this setting? I'm concerned that wear and tear may result in the smaller stones falling out (she's a public school teacher, btw).
3. Do you have any other ring/diamond recommendations? I'm definitely open to suggestions.

Thanks in advance -- I know that I've listed many questions, and I sincerely appreciate any input members of this community can provide.

I can't speak to any of the questions about Canadian customs, but as far as the ring goes:

0. The diamond looks GORGEOUS. Nice color, ACA will be fantastic, very respectable size.
2. Most of the stones appear to be burnish set into the band, so they should be in there good and tight. I might be wary of using an ultrasonic cleaner, but as a school teacher, I think she'll be okay. WF should replace any if they did fall out for some reason.

As for suggestions, if she fell in love with that setting, I'd stick with it. It's an incredibly unique and beautiful setting.

Ditto gecko's answer about the security of the diamonds in the band.

I think it's a fabulous combination. Nice job!

I love that setting and you pretty much cant go wrong with an ACA. Should be a beautiful ring!
