Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if this time of year right before Valentine's day is a time where diamond selection is thinner?

If someone was not on a timeline for searching, would you wait til after Valentine's for suppliers to replenish stocks just to make sure there was no better diamond for your specs elsewhere? Or maybe it doesn't really matter that much at all?

I hope someone that really knows the answer will chime in, but I doubt that diamond suppliers have more stones stocked during holidays. They seem to be consistently stocked year-round from what I have seen. Jewelers potentially might stock more during that time, but the diamonds are available to them anytime if they call them in.

Oh interesting. I had thought it might be just the opposite, that they get a little depleted during the winter holiday season between november through feb, but I could imagine the other way around too.

I am sure that more are probably sold during that time, but there is a huge amount of diamonds available at any time!

I've bought most of my rings / diamonds in summer, like Jul - Oct. It's past the wedding and anniversary season and seems to be slow time for sales. Definitely less competition from other buyers during those months, if not more diamonds stocked up, too. Christmas, Valentines Day, Mother's Day, April - June anniversaries - more buyers looking then. If it's guys doing the buying, most of them almost never look/buy ahead of time.
