Hi!

well I am thinking of upgrading my stone to be more proportional to the new tacori setting I am getting.

The new setting is the Rosebud with a thicker band of G color pave set stones.
The two side stones are G color, .33 carats each, about 4mm diameter.

I want to get a 1.5 RB ideal cut for the center of this platinum setting.

SO, do you think an I color center at that size will be tooooo much of a difference between the center and sides and also the pave set stones? I currently have an H and it looked fine but was also smaller at 1.07 ct and it was also ideal cut.

Also, the diamond will be set high and visible on both sides. Will an ideal cut I stone show color on top and on the sides? I really never noticed any color in my H stone. I dont have the setting right now to compare to, Tacori has it.

I'm leary of an I color, but was thinking of ways to try and cut costs.

Thanks all!

Diamonds grade differently than you observe them.

Color grading of a diamond is done in the face down position... This way diamonds do exhibit their body color consistently.

But after the diamond is set, you and your friends will generally only observe it in the face up postion. Each diamond may different "face up color" that many times is not consistent with the face down color grade. Some of this varaince is due to how well the stone is cut. If the I color faces up well, it will probably look ok - but it should be seen with the others stone, in the ring, before it is set to make sure.

The new stone you speak of could face up like an I color ( sort of silvery) or worse by a couple grades, but if its an ideal cut it may look several grades better.

Recently I looked at a pair of earrings, they were EGL graded as O-P .. but they faced up like an I color.. and they weren''t fluorescent.

I know this may not be what you want to hear, but its factual. Advice: Have the ring with the stones set, ( and the center stone loose) looked at by someone skilled in diamond grading, that answer will be more accurate that what I can say without seeing it.
