I haven''t posted in a while but I''m planning a vacation in a few months to the "most magical place on earth." I had a couple voucher tickets and booked them for Florida and now doing my research on Disney. I love Disney, and my SO has never been. Of course he''s not really into all of that as I am, but he will just be finishing school and it would be a nice little trip. He''s concerned about the cost of the trip, which I''ve told him that I would take care of most of it. I bluntly hinted that he should also be saving up for something. He replied "something that starts with a ''R''?" so he gets what I mean. It really would be an amazing place for a proposal. I''m just worried that I''m trying to set it up for him, and all he has to do is pop the question... but what if he doesn''t? At least I''ll have a fun trip, but come on! If I can save for this, I think he should be able to save for a ring. I don''t want him spending a lot of money on it anyways. I know that he''s in school and doesn''t work much so he''s income isn''t that big. I''m in between jobs (hoping to get a new one in a week or so) so planning a vacation might not be the smartest idea, but it is do-able. I just needed to get this out.

my advice is hope for the best but don't expect anything! you may be disappointed....

have you guys done any ring shopping? what is his budget? generally speaking rings are more $$$ than trips...

The trip is going to cost around $1150.00 and he was planning on paying no more than $1500.00. Yes the ring is more, but he could spend $100.00 and I would be happy. I agree that I shouldn''t plan on any proposal because I don''t want to be disappointed.

well good luck! lots of dust!!! i am sure if it doesn''t happen on the trip it will soon!

Hi Mariewest! I just wanted to chime in, though I don''t know if it will be helpful. Not sure where you''ve been looking but if you book a Disney trip through their website, they''re having an amazing deal right now! If you pay for 4 nights of hotel & tickets, you get an additional 3 nights free! If you''re looking to cut costs but still have an amazing vacation, it could actually be better to stay on the property to get the deal. We stayed at the Pop Century a couple of summers ago- it was about $80 per night- if you go during the deal, you''d only spend about $350 for 7 nights for the hotel! It''s definitely not the fanciest of the resorts but we spent more time at the parks & used the room for sleeping! Just a thought to make your magical dream come true! I LOVE Disney!

I already booked the plane flight based on certain dates available, and I didn''t want to go for too long because I didn''t want to take off too much work (when I actually have a job.) I was planning on staying on site, get only two day park tickets (non-park hopper) and was thinking about getting a dining plan. How was the pop century? I have stayed at All Star Music twice so I was thinking about staying at Pop or All Star Movies just for something different?

Thanks for all the dust girls. The trip falls around the time of the timeline deadline, but as every day goes by I get more and more discouraged that it''ll happen that soon. I know it will happen in 2009 (or it really better), but all I can do is shut up and wait (sorta-patiently).

We did the dining plan- it was DBF''s favorite part! For us, it was well worth the cost & we tried some food & restaurants we never would have done if we hadn''t already paid for it.

The Pop was ok. It''s not my favorite, but as a kid we went a lot & my parents could afford some of the nicer places. We found it to be exactly what we needed- a place to sleep. We did go swimming a few times & there are a bunch of pools, which is nice. The rooms were tiny & the beds were not the most comfortable, but I always sleep like a baby after all that walking! My other two things about the Pop were that the walls were thin & the water pressure wasn''t great. BUT, like I said, it was what we needed & it made our vacation a reality. I would definitely stay there again. It''s definitely similar to the Music & Movies, but I think those two share a bus system & Pop has its own, which is a plus!

Sending some dust your way!
