Hi all you wonderful colored stone lovers,

The ring that brought me to this forum is done. I will post a more extensive thread on SMTR, but I wanted the first picture to be here, because this is where I learned everything I know.

This is my Mom-ring. The two sapphires represent my children, whose names and birth dates are engraved in the setting. When I showed the ring to my toddler son, he immediately asked - Where is Daddy''s stone? So the flowers now symbolize myself and my husband

My thought with the flowers was that as it is customary to celebrate the birth of children with flowers, this is my celebratory arrangement of flowers, that will remind me of this time that my children are small.

I''ll edit this post in order to attach the link to the SMTR-thread with more pictures

MT - I wasn''t sure at first, but the more I look at your ring, the more I like it. Now I really like it. The stones are beautiful, and the design is unusual without being weird. Is there another flower on the other side of the colored stones? I would love to see a more "head-on" shot", and will definitely be looking for you over in SMTR. Congratulations on a wonderful, special ring (it''s great that it''s engraved) and 2 precious children. Hmmm, I have 4 children; I wonder what you would come up with for that...

That''s a very unique ring. Do you have a boy and a girl? I''m going by the assumption that the pink sapphire with the soft edges is for the girl and the blue sapphire with the hard edges is for the boy. Do you have more pictures?

I think this is an extremely pretty, sentimental and nicely made piece.
Do you mind to share where you had it done? The milgrain looks nice!

Congrats on a lovely project.

I love your ring. It''s very unique and special. Your toddler is so sweet to make sure his daddy is included!!

Let''s start with the link to the SMTR thread and more pictures!!!

Here''s the link to the designer Annette Tillander click here

cellentani thankyou, I really appreciate your comments here too. I think exactly like you, it''s unusual without being weird (although I do think many people see it as clunky and weird too). There is another flower on the other side

and it''s slightly different in size. This designer really knows what she''s doing. I''m pretty sure she''d come up with something for four children, as she herself has four children and has made a ring to symbolize them. I''ll see if I can find the picture. But whatever will I do with this ring if we ever have more children (not in the plans but you can''t plan everything, can you?)

Kismet Thankyou for your comment. Yes I have a boy and a girl, and you guessed right

I wanted traditional symbolism on this one, although I also like to think outside the box. There are more pictures behind the link in the other thread in Show Me The Ring, I''d be delighted if you popped in to have a look.

arjunajane Thankyou. I think it''s really romantic, it pleases the poem writing flower gilr in me. I included a link to the designer in this post. I recommend her highly if you like this style, she is great in every way.

mochi Thankyou. I''m glad you like it. My toddler is so sweet, and Daddy is his hero, which is so touching to watch. I think he''ll like my next project, upgrading my wedding ring. Then his Dad gets his own gemstone. Of course then Mom needs her own gemstone ring too, right?

Wow-that''s neat! I like that it''s different and symbolizes your whole family!!

What a great idea and truly unique. Something to be passed down through the family I think.

It''s unique and the meaning behind it is sweet! And I LOVE the way it looks!! The colors and shapes work so well together. Did you design it yourself?

I really like it!!

I would love to see more pics. Why doesn''t the smtr thread work?

I adore your ring, it is unique and gorgeous. I am headed over to the other thread. The designer has gorgeous things, I am in love

Definitely not the usual mom ring. At first I too found it odd looking, but the longer I looked at it, the more I got used to the look. I like the addition of the 2 flowers flanking the sapphires.

That is quite beautiful! Very unique, but elegant at the same time.

Awwww....how sweet is that!! Knowing what the stones and flowers represent, it makes sense. It''s beautiful.

Very, very pretty. Are you in Finland or does she work with people outside of the country? There is one ring that I absolutely adore, but I''m not sure if she would ship to the US.

You know, and she''s really nice to work with as well. She has a gift of being able to take the client''s ideas and turning them into beautiful designs in her own distinctive style. A true artist, but also great with clients.

I had a lot of ideas and drawings, and they helped me explain what I wanted. This is actually the last of four different designs. I liked this the most and it fit my budget. The others were really nice with leaves and vines, but more special occasion rings. This one I''ll wear every day, although carefully. So it all worked out. (Would looooooooooove to see the other designs realized, though).

Thankyou Chrono. When I had gotten the ring and had it a few hours, at some point I had a moment when I thought it looked odd. Then I liked it again. I wish I could show a video of it. Photographs don''t show all the beautiful asymmetrical details that complement each other. A three dimensional model might, but the designer is old school, so I don''t have oneof those. I really like the flowers too, without them I think the oddness would become pronounced. There is such a fine line between art and originality for originality''s sake, in my opinion.

The shank of the ring goes like a delicate vine on the finger, starting higher on one side and going lower on the other. The flowers are made in two different sizes, one bigger than the other, and the sapphires are tilted towards the fingers. All of these details are what makes it kind of like a miniature sculpture in my mind
