That makes my drop A 5 string sound like a banjo

My question was: has there ever been a piece of music composed that incorporated the octobass? Its sound (that low rumbling) does not sound like something that would frequently be "needed" by composers. I am wondering if I should look this up myself or wait for one of you string experts to do so. I found this interesting since my daughter used to play the cello, but I never played a string instrument myself and know very little about them.

Deb, there was a composer who did write parts for it although I cannot remember who it was. Apparently their pieces were very bass/low frequency oriented and some people have suggested his ideas for compositions have a lot in common with heavy metal

Makes it tough to ride the NYC subways to gigs.

LOL kenny, I would have trouble with all the gear I take to a gig as it is. This thing would be death!!
