I spent two amazing days with my soldier... He is an incredible, determined young man and I am deeply proud of him.
I also fell in love with South Carolina and its people.. and Houston from the air (I also had amazing bbq at the airport and love the accents!).How beautiful, my past two and a half days have been absolutely amazing.
Kimi, thanks for sharing that; that is quite amazing you don''t see many people doing something like that! Very admirable!Date: 11/16/2008 9:21:31 AM

Highway superintendent turns down raise, some coworkers follow. http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/story?section=news/local&id=6506288&rss=rss-wabc-article-6506288
What an admirable man.
I''m glad you were touched by the story as well. It''s nice to know that some people recognize when they have enough, and taking more would be harmful to their community. I read elsewhere that he saved Yorktown over $1 last year by streamlining processes, and as the story says, at least 4 other local employees followed his example and turned down their raises.Date: 11/16/2008 4:47:21 PM

Mini hijack, but KimH....please start your ugly ornament thread soon...I''ve been looking forward to it for MONTHS!!! I''ve got some real beauties saved to a folder just for you!
I promise I will, lucky! I''m so excited to see what you have for me. We''re really trying to be frugal this Christmas, but my entry a few years ago caused a new rule to be implemented: No handmade ornaments. I''m really looking forward to Thanksgiving and wanted to hold off until after we celebrate that wonderful holiday first.Date: 11/18/2008 6:01:09 PM

I have some good news too! I will be out of a job in the middle of January and got a call yesterday for an opening that I qualify for. And they will wait for me to finish were I currently am! I prayed every night for about 5 months straight about this. He works wonders!
And SDL, tell your son thank you. Very admirable and self-less.
Hopefully this will put a smile on your faces. Last weekend I took my dog Harley to get his picture with Santa at our local Invisible Fence office. He did great, enjoyed some christmas cookies and PEED ON THE TREE right beside Santa. Ha. Thank goodness they are used to dogs and got a kick out of it!
