I was reading one of the threads and there was a discussion on size tolerance. Some of us like petite stones and settings while some of us love giant honkers.

So I thought I'd start a thread dedicated to all the giant, flamboyant rings out there.

I used to love smaller stones and rings. 5mm stone, no problem. The older I get the smaller things seem. I struggle even with 8mm. My 10 by 12 have cab seems tiny!!!

So without further ado please show me your giant rings!!!!!

********

Here is the more inferior jade cab I own but it definitely has size going for it. Entire ring measures approximately 28mm by 18mm

I wanted to post some recent rings but then when I compare against your honker of a jade ring I think my rings look petite in comparison

I’ll take some pics of my topaz and jade rings this weekend to post... if we count small stones but big halo then more should qualify... :lol-2:

Oh we totally have to count small stones with big halos! I'm going to post my 8x6 spinel but the setting is all frufru and more than 10mm!

I’m not sure what you consider a honker, but here are some of my largest rings/stones.

13 carat Zambian amethyst over a bridge of amethyst.

My 14x10mm opal cabochon ring (bottom) with a Levian opal honker I was looking at and tried on at the jewelry store (top ring not mine).

My 14 carat aqua and diamond vintage ring n 18k. I have another pale aqua the same size, but it’s not set, just to compare color. The top aqua is more commercial grade.

This moonstone is like 22x14mm if I remember correctly

Sometimes I don’t love the color and inclusions of this. Then I remember it’s untreated and came out of the ground this color and fall in love again.

Rubellite tourmaline from mastercutgems, 7.95 carats. It’s not a super honker, but I don’t think I can wear rings larger than this. :???:

I love big and bold rings. Here are just a few of mine. These are my four Thai princess rings plus a multi color Jade ring and a Jade/pearl ring.

I like both big and somewhat smaller, but the small ones I have are the more expensive stones like my emerald, rubies, and sapphire rings and I make sure the setting will still get some good finger coverage. My Ethiopian opals however I love big :)

@strawrose I have a terse relationship with Tourmaline but yours is amazing!!!!! Love love love it. The colour and the presence is just fantastic. And good on you for successfully mounting a stone that huge. I always find it a trial to set huge stones.

I love all these rings! I have found that my size tolerance has slowly been creeping up as well. I'd say it was PS influence, except I wasn't checking it much for a couple of years!

I would wear the bigger stones and rings on the middle left hand finger.

I need to wear Size 12 US or so on that chubby finger, so anything thin and small just won't do as I dislike the oven-ready tied up meat joint look, if you know what I mean.

DK :))

Love that amethyst! What a gorgeous colour & setting!

Some of you might know I like them BIG. :kiss2: To be fair it is because my hands are HUGE. If I had petite delicate hands I think I would enjoy the more delicate petite pieces but for my man hands only large bling will do to look proportional. You all know my one favorite ring but I will share it again because on PS pics rule.

When I return to NYC I will take new photos of her but for now this will have to do. We have been apart since May 15th as we have been at the beach house since then. Some of you know the details and some don't but suffice to say it's been a long 6 months though at times it feels like the time has flown by.

Perfection. Proportions just right!

Yeah I cannot blame my size addiction on PS. I was always this way.

Your entire collection is simply breathtaking.

Thank you @mellowyellowgirl for starting this thread otherwise my gigantic coral ring would have no chance to be out of the safe!
How on earth am I supposed to wear such a big & heavy ring?
DH bought it years ago without my opinion.......

Thanks! It’s definitely not as bright as the spinels I covet, but it looks similar to the back lights of a car (I may or may not have compared them side by side. ). They definitely needed a custom setting.

@missy your fingers must be super long because I never thought of them that way. :cheeky:As someone who used to play instruments, I’m jealous.

@lucida818,
The setting is very nice, maybe you can use it for a flatter cabochon. I’d be afraid to wear such a high domed round ball like stone in a ring. You could also convert it to a pendant.

I never tire of seeing this ring.

I too have never enjoyed petite delicate rings since I’ve man hands and petite rings just look so insubstantial on. Can’t blame PS for any size issues!

I’ll probably end up like one of those older ladies I see locally with big ass everything from earrings to rings...

Ohhh pls also post your beautiful pink sapphire. Definitely think that qualifies on this thread.

Ok! Since you say can here are mine... I feel like they are very reasonably sized compared to all their big sister rings but these are my biggest and mostly thanks to biiiiiig halos.

Left to right: topaz, Mexican opal (thanks to halo), purple jadeite, mahenge spinel, yellow tourmaline, icy jadeite, Peruvian opal

They provide full or nearly full finger coverage...

@missy, your Cartier opal never fails to amaze me, the whole ring (shape/color/size) is just perfect & MAGICAL! I never thought an opal can be just nice till I saw yours!

@AV_ , it weighs 18g, is really too heavy for any of my small fingers - it spins! Moreover I find its 4 claws very annoying looking, lol

@T L , the best solution is to reset like you said, a pendant is definitely safer & more wearable but looking for someone or some place to set it can be a hassle!

@lucida818 I say just wear it and enjoy it. My theory is I have so many rings if I scratch one so be it. Can't take it to the grave may as well enjoy it and go nuts!

Can't remember measurements for this either but it's big.

I love this one because you can see the bright green from far away. It is super super bright green. Hehe I bought a few weird flowers before I got this one which is my absolute favorite flower.
