I tend to over-research things quite a bit. Thankfully, this led me to this forum that helped guide me on what to do and more importantly, led me to finding IDJ and Yekutial. For background on my journey, here is my main thread and another with the light images of the center stone.

I got the final product in from Yekutial a few days ago after meeting him in NY last week and finalizing the deal. I don't have any experience with these type of purchases, but I think I did reasonably well. I originally wanted to spend $3k, then went up to $5k, then for me personally I found the best tradeoff of quality, value and "bling" came in right around 8-10k. After not so subtly trying to get hints from my girlfriend, it came down to a round brilliant with micro pave on the sides. Then I went nuts in my research and determined in addition to maximizing cut, I really wanted fluorescence. I mean really. The idea of this shapeshifting diamond under certain lights seemed very cool to me, not to mention the bonus of a discount.

Ended up with this 1.7+ MRB, HCA 0.7, 57 table, 61.2 depth, 34 crown, 40.6 pavilion, Medium FL, J, SI1 eye-clean (even though one of the pictures strangely doesn't make it seem like that) rock. Special thanks to PS in general, but specifically Yekutial who was awesome throughout this whole process. And also flyingpig, ac117, msop, and everyone else who took the time to contribute.

So anyway, here are some photos. I'm not very good at taking them and excuse my thumbs, but thought I'd share a few shots until after the proposal (which is still a ways away).

Also a quick GIF I made of the ER under yellow office lighting (and thus the heavy yellow tint):

She is sure to be thrilled with the ring! Congrats on the learning and identifying what you most wanted in a diamond. Most girls would be over the moon with someone that took that much time and interest in her ring! Please come back with hand shots after the proposal!!

It's beautiful. I's sure that your future fiance will be thrilled.

Gorgeous, super sparkly and just lovely. She will cry when she sees it. Total dream ring. Ya did good!

That is a super beautiful ring! Congratulations!!!

And I adore Yekutiel (and fluorescence) too! He helped us find our strong blue fluorescent asscher :appl:

oh, it is BEAUTIFUL!!! i love the flouro shot and those prongs, WOW!!

Awesome :)

And 3k >> 5k >> 10k is a prime example of scope creep LOL :D

It's absolutely lovely

Great job!:appl: Love the blue fluro!!!

Thanks everyone for the kind words. It took a lot of effort, and I still can't spell fluorescence right on the first attempt, but I'm happy. I just got the independent appraisal report back too and it was even higher than the one Yekutial included, which was a surprise. Now all that's left is to look forward to that last step..

Wow it's gorgeous!!! I'm so happy it came out amazing!! Please come back with hand shots once you propose!!:appl::love:

Be careful not to get too high an appraisal figure - it will just mean that you pay more for insurance!

Oh, YAAAAYYYY!!!! It looks stunning, ryan23! I'm so excited for you to propose, and your FF will be over the moon!! Congratulations!

Great job, that's an amazingly beautiful ring! I especially love the fluoro.

Hey Azurik - I actually never paid attention to the setting brand, just wanted to make sure I liked the style which Yekutial found. I looked at my appraisal which says the marking inside the ring says "Ed.B" which I just googled to be Eddies' Best:

http://www.eddiesbest.com/

Looks good to me is all that matters. Yekutial was very patient with me to find the setting I wanted (this was probably the 5th option he presented me).

Edit - one thing I'll mention....I really thought I would love the Vatche 1533 but after Yekutial pulled it and showed it to me, I immediately disregarded it. Funny how that works (looks good on images/videos but in real life not so much, for me anyway as everyone's taste is different)

Did I mention how cool the fluorescence is?

Nice shot !
May I ask what the light environment was ? (daylight, UV source ...)

Its beautiful Ryan...that ought to knock her socks off!!!

Gorgeous ring and IDJ did an excellent job!
Well done Ryan!
