Hello everyone

Ok so which would you pick from The following 2:

http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamond/diamond-detail/?product_id=AGS-104045927006

Or

http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-2327041.htm

Let's say the price difference between the two is not a factor.

There is on more stone that I'm looking at BUT it is a H color and I'm not sure I will be happy with a H. But I'll link to it here anyway:

Now I know the WF stone is showing as sold. An that's because I have put in an order for it. But can we ignore that for now please. As having just seen the BGD website I do like their 4 prong tiffany style setting more then the one on WF. So if the BGD stone is better or the same as the WF I would prefer to get the BGD stone due to liking their 4 prong setting better then the one on WF.

What do you guys think?

Thanks again for all the help :)

do not buy an H unless you have personally seen an H in your prefered shape and you are HAPPY with the colour.

if colour is a big factor, and you want a colourless stone, it may be too risky to buy in the near colourless range without prior inspection.

caveat emptor.

Yeah I am thinking to stay clear of the H stone.

What about G stones? Should I be worried about them?

IMO the cut on the Brian Gavin 0.85 ct H color is the best in terms of eye-pleasing symmetry.

If you're setting an H in yellow gold you might be able to get away with the warmth. and whether it's uniformly an H or just tinted in particular spots. IMO again -- a princess cut shows every problem with the cut and color, so It's really a question of whether you want symmetry or color.

For some reason the Whiteflash stone faceting pattern is just a tad more pleasing to my eye (when I do a side by side
comparison). They both are pretty stones. I did not look at the H.

Hmmmm... But would you say there's anything wrong with the one from BGD?

As I am leaning towards that stone because I prefer their ring setting to the ring setting from WF.

Looks like the H stone is a no no. So we can focus on the other two :)

No, I would not say there is anything wrong with the BGD stone. Like I was saying they are both pretty stones.
I dont think you could go wrong with either.

yeah I wouldn't immediately rule out H unless you have seen it in person and don't like it.

Having spoken to Brian he has told me that the H is a very good color and doesn't look like a H. But I really don't know if I should risk buying it. Especially as I'm in the UK and returning it will be a pain...

you can always go to a store in the UK to look at F/G/H in person? but if you do make sure to look by a window-the jewelry store lights do not give the most realistic view. or if you are more comfortable going with higher color then just go for it

So you would still consider buying a H stone? Wouldn't it look very highly tinted if compared to a G or above stone?

No, it would not look like a fancy yellow stone.

Hello Stone-cold. I've always looked at your posts for advice.

So what would you do. Get the H or G stone from BGD?

I would go for the H. It is more worth it, the G is only a slight increase in size for a larger jump in $. Once mounted it should not be obvious unless side by side with a G, even then I won't be able to see any differences, but that is for me might not be true for you.

If you never had diamonds of more colorless grade before, you will probably not be able to tell the difference. Also, a well cut princess is also rare in UK as AGS0 princess is rarer than over here in the US so I bet, even people with with colorless grade stones will not be able to tell the difference because of the cut performance of the stone.

Go for it, worst case scenario, do an upgrade or return for funding... :p

I think you should go to a local tiffany and ask to see a G and an H princess, or another high end store with GIA or AGS graded stones. Then you will know for sure that in fact, you cannot tell the difference between G and H and you will not worry anymore! 8)

This is almost exactly what Brian said to me! You're not Brian are you? lol :)

Nope, far from him... Never even met him or buy from him. :P
