OK so turn about is fair play and I have had excellent doctor experiences and hoping many of you have similar positive experiences. I think it is *OK* to share names here...at least I hope I'm not breaking any rules. If I am Ella I apologize and just delete the names please. Thanks!

1. Dr David Wellman orthopedic surgeon at HSS
BEST TRAUMA Surgeon IMO! He fixed the serious surgical mistake my mom's previous surgeon made causing her multiple problems (she still sadly has a dropped foot from that first awful surgical error) in a very long drawn out multiple surgeon surgery so we are very thankful to him.

and unfortunately (or fortunately as the case may be since my parents had that wonderful experience with him) when I broke my leg in a Pilon fracture (tibia and fibula broken) a few years ago my parents had me contact him and he did the surgery very successfully! People in the field are always impressed with the range of motion and flexibility I have in that ankle after my Pilon fracture and I have to thank Dr Wellman for his superb work on my fracture.

And yes that is really his last name. Very appropro. Thank you Dr. Wellman!

2. Dr. David Cohen dermatologist at NYU
I have seen many dermatologists and no one compares to this one IMO. I have many dermatologic conditions and none curable but he is the best of the best and he helps me tremendously. He is a wealth of knowledge. Impressive and sharp.
And he has also saved my dh's life IMO when he was the one who caught the melanoma.
Which brings me to my next praise of another dermatologist on my dh's melanoma check team every few months...

3. Dr David Polsky dermatologist at NYU
He is part of my dh's derm team to check him for melanoma and he reads the mole safe every year. Another excellent dermatologist.

4. Dr. David LaPorta podiatrist
My newest doctor and I am impressed by him. He is excellent and knows his stuff and he is a kind person to boot. He went out of his way to help me and he knows what he is doing and after I had that terrible experience 2 weeks ago with another podiatrist I am super grateful to have found a truly excellent one especially given the high risk for leg plate infection I have due to the metal in that leg. So thank you!

That's all I can think of right now but I am so grateful to have found these wonderful doctors.
LOL just realized all of them have the same first name... coincidence? I think not...:cheeky:

Hoping others will chime in with their positive experiences.

This isn't about me directly, but about my mom - she has multiple problems, and when she was in getting the metal removed from her leg (that was infected and causing a non-healing wound on her ankle), she had an episode of coughing and shortness of breath. They were immediately on her, and took an x-ray of her chest (in addition to all the other tests). In that x-ray they found one small nodule in her lung - thank goodness! Their team banded together, biopsied it and found that it was cancerous, and initiated radiation treatment for her within days.

This all happened at the University of Michigan hospitals in Ann Arbor. Too many individual doctors to list, but all of them have been excellent at what they do. They actually talk to one another to make the best treatment plans! She has seen plastic surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, neurologists, radiation specialists, a back doctor, a GI specialist, etc, etc. I personally have been very impressed, as getting doctors to actually talk to one another in the "real world" is next to impossible. These people seem to actually enjoy what they do and seem highly versed in their respective specialties.

Thank you for sharing this experience and so relieved and happy for your mom and you and your whole family that everyone taking care of her did an excellent job. It is heartwarming and reassuring to know that excellent doctors do indeed exist and save lives and improve quality of lives!

Hoping to hear from more people about their excellent doctors.

I have two:

Dr. Robert Yordan-obstetrics and gynecology. Caring, compassionate and thinks outside the box. He delivered my second son and if I was going to have more he would be my go to.

Dr. Larry Erwich-Dentist. Been going to him for the past 20 years, my DH and kids all go to him now too. He is top notch and all of the hygienists are wonderful as well.

Hi,

Dr. William Warren- thoracic surgeon. I had a cancer that had spread to both lungs. No Dr on two continents would touch me. My oncologist as a last resort sent me to this Dr. He studied my xrays very carefully, and kept saying I think I can, I think I can. (just like the children story of the little train that could). I had four major surgeries in a yr, 2/3 of left lung removed, 7 tumors removed from right lung, and 8 months later one more tumor removed from right lung. He to me to go back and tell my oncologist to put me back on chemo. I did do it, much to my Chemo Drs. surprise and agreement.
I have been cancer free for 30 yrs.

One day getting my follow-up x-rays I found a journal on the end table where they list the top hospitals in the country and the best Drs according to specialties. My Dr was listed as one of the top three thoracic surgeons in the country. I had no insurance at this time. He told me not to worry he had privileges at a public hospital and he said," they will let me operate there." There are no words for this man.

I went for my gyne check up with my oncologist who said, "I bet Dr Warren would not believe you are still alive." It was the Christmas season and 25 yrs cancer free for me. I wrote Dr Warren a letter giving him a brief history of the last 25 yrs, and thanking his again for saving my life. He wrote me back a lovely letter. This man was my perfect vision of a Dr. They do exist.
He was good-looking too.

HI:

I have had outstanding medical and surgical care throughout my life: Physicians who not only care for me, but about me. And Dentists also.

cheers--Sharon

The surgeons who operated on my Dad back in 1992. My current dermatologist, who does not accept insurance of any kind. My dentist who is the nicest person in the world. My optometrist, who is the best, kindest, most competent person in the world, and I've been seeing him since I was 10. I have been blessed to have been treated by some very wonderful human beings who happen to be doctors as well.

The doctor (lady) from Stanford Hospital - she was able to reconstruct my mangled breast cancer breast and make it look very much like the other on the left side. Dr. Lauren Greenberg. I'm indebted to her. As she stated "they will never be twins but they certainly look like sisters." Love her! :wavey:
