Hello all,

I've seen some tension settings that I absolutley love. However, I'm a little uncertain in my comfort level over them. I'm looking for manufactures that have tension look alikes. Anyone have any good suggestions? I've found a few searching the archieves, but not quite what I had in mind. BTW, The style I had in mind was as close to some Niessing settings as possible.

Anyone?
Thanks,
Jason

HI Jason, I just wanted to say that I LOVE the Niessing settings. Nearly got one but then went bigger on my stone so didn''t think it looked right.

Anyway I''m afraid I''m not much help on ready-made look-a-likes. It would be easy to get one custom made becuase all they need to do is put a bar under the stone so that the circle of the ring is completed if you know what I mean. Then it''s not a tension ring anymore.

What was it about the Niessing that you were uncomfortable with?

The grouping would certainly be insured. I got an uneasy failing after reading past post and member experiances with tension settings. I love the look, but that would all turn sour if the stone I bought as an engagement was lost. I also don''t like the fact that maintenence on a tension setting could get quite expensive with resizes and such. No one local could do it.

I like the open styles, I''m just trying to find a way to duplicate the look, yet still get a bar in there. So far, little luck.

Hello

There are designers that make gold/platinum channel set diamond rings more open than a typical channel. They look identical to certain tension set rings, but have small bars conecting the two sides so that you would never have to worry about the gold loosing tension on the diamond. I have seen them in our store. Most people that look at them assume they are tension then I show them that it is not a tension set by flipping the ring upside down and inspecting the head of the ring.

Hi, DY Jewels has some tension set rings:

Tension Set Rings

I'm going to get my tension ring from them, they do custom designs as well, and can scale the width of the ring or other dimensions any way you like. The design work is even free of charge. I'm still doing some research to figure out what to buy.

I'm probably going to get this ring:
