Tell me what is wrong with this diamond

I have seen this diamond in person and I liked the color. I didn't see the inclusions but I might go back and look again. I cannot tell if it has normal brilliance or not- I feel like something might be wrong with it because the price seems too right? How does one evaluate brilliance? (note- I realize it is a lab diamond and that effects price- please disregard that fact for my question)

The inscription on the first one says "Laboratory Grown in the USA." I haven't seen IGI around here in my limited experience, so I'm not sure how accurately they grade.

I'd go with the GIA certified one, if I had a choice.

Yah I don't know how accurately they grade either. I guess for me, if I like how it looks, then I don't really care about the grading unless I should be paying less. The most important thing for me is sparkle.

I don't know much about ovals but the JA one looks pretty to my eyes, not too much bow tie. Does it have a slight brown tint, though? Would that bother you?

To me it looks smokey/purple-y (on multiple screens I have looked at it on)- which I thought could either looks cool or terrible. Might be something you just have to test out in person.

I believe only IGI grade lab grown, GIA would not.

GIA will grade man-made diamonds (MMD), but only with a general grade. That is why IGI is used for MMD. For example, instead of K SI1, the GIA report would be Faint Yellow, Slightly Included. In the USA, consumers favor GIA and AGS because IGI inflated appraisals (not to be confused with IGI reports) have tarnished their reputation. In Europe and Asia, IGI is respected and sometimes preferred.

Without being able to see the first diamond, we cannot comment on it. The second diamond definitely has a brown tint. Any hint of purple would command a different price point.

A lab grown diamond from a dodgy lab is always going to be worth less than a diamond that is not synthetic or grown in a lab and graded by GIA or AGL. If you want an oval that has a decent spread and a bit of colour (that is not lab created) one of these would probably be better choices;

If you want a white diamond with a good spread this Antique pear is another good option;

You could consider Antique pears, Antique ovals and Antique Marquise....

If size & colour is your thing;

or if you are after something pretty, tinted and a decent size a pear might be another option;

Diamonds by Lauren have brown, pink, yellow lots of different colours if that is what you are looking for.
