I have picked out the pear diamond for my future e-ring (1.5 carat, G, beautiful eye-clean I1) - - and now things are out of my hands and into my boyfriends and the people at the jeweler we are working with. My preference is thicker, squared-edge white gold bands which they both now. I have heard thru the grapevine that the jeweler is recommending a 4 mm band that SLIGHTLY tapers toward the stone to "accentuate the diamond". I am definitely willing to send this into their expert hands since I am not super particular but am wondering what ya''lls opinion is on tapered bands such as this and if it would be better to be the same width thrroughout -- pictures would be great!!

Have you looked at the "Show me your pears" thread? It might give you some ideas of what you like
(or is it too late?) I have a pear (1.08 D SI1) but its on a thin 1.5mm plat band with tapered baguettes
on the side.

Here is the pear thread - there are some real beauties in there!

Now, would this be tapering out from the stone, or in towards the stone? I''m a big fan of the former (something like a modified Vatche?), but I think the latter can look imbalanced occasionally (depends on the particular setting). TyTy''s suggestion of taking a peek through the pear thread is one I''d second heartily!

I personally like the look where the band gets a little narrower as it nears the stone. I think it does make the stone pop!

But you need to see if you like it!
