Woohoo, lucky you! I would love to watch it, but last time I did that I bought something (small and relatively inexpensive, and totally worth the price. But still. I'm supposed to be on Ban Island, and holidays are coming.)

I got pair A on top! I actively look for minor flaw/kizu in my akoyas these days to save on cost, since the main thing I care about is luster anyway . They showed a few pairs of 8-8.5mm gem grade (without flaws) later in the stream and they were almost double the price so I'm very happy with the deal I got!

I got a bracelet and earring pair at the last livestream. My 8-8.5mm Gem Akoya pair with standard treatment was $400 and the ones yesterday were $450. I think they were equivalent, so I'm wondering if the pricing has gone up a bit. Can anyone confirm?

You are a stronger person than me! I couldn’t resist buying one of the loose gold south sea pearls. I’d already picked it out yesterday when they posted the preview on their story My one is C!

Their 8-8.5 gem akoya pairs were $450, both natural white and standard (pinked). They also had 8.5-9 gem pairs! They were all stunning but what was interesting was that some pairs were visibly larger than others, despite being in the same size range.

Their 8-8.5 gem akoya pairs were $450, both natural white and standard (pinked). They also had 8.5-9 gem pairs! They were all stunning but what was interesting was that some pairs were visibly larger than others, despite being in the same size range.

Your eyes can generally see size differences starting around .15mm. So a 8.5mm will look smaller for sure compared to a 8.9mm in the same “size range”. Prices jump up a lot at 9mm but a 8.9mm will look just as big for large savings.

I loved everything and Hisano and Mr Kan Seki are a great double act! Luckily I’m on Ban Island forever now so could watch and drool without needing to buy. You need to be quick off the mark, for sure.

I did, but can't decide if I'm going to purchase or not. I (of course) chose the most expensive one. I was hoping for 200 range, and its 450 so I might let it go. But the color is just so good. I'm torn.

I ended up buying two pairs of gem grade akoyas, one of the 5mm and the 8mm natural whites. The smaller pair will become studs for my 9yo daughter, who was watching parts of the livestream with me. She said multiple times she is "jealous" of my pearls and almost tried to claim some pieces lol. For the 8mm ones, I'm deciding if I want another pair of studs or make them into dangles!

I joined late and waited for a pair of gem Akoya 9-9.5 but didn’t see it. After the show, Takahashi quoted via Insta 1k-1.2k range and they will find me a match on Monday. My caliper just came and I measured the ones my Mom gifted me, they are around 9.8m but they look small on my earlobes , so if I get a pair, they would need to be 10-10.5 or 10.5-11, I suppose it will be a huge price jump. Does any of you have any clue what the price range would be? I am lucky to have 13 and 15mm SS studs but I am in love with Akoya more. TIA.

Unfortunately you’ll give up a lot of luster going to 10mm akoya, even IF you can find gem grade and can afford it. Always ask for pictures comparing to a gem grade 8.5-9mm in same photo so you can see the quality drop off. If you see a larger pearl with same quality, buy it fast!

I love drop shapes so I’m very happy I snagged C. I’m currently deciding what bail to get to turn it into a pendant! I think I’m going to get a bail off Etsy or maybe even have a custom one made. I think I want an upside down drop shape to balance out my bottom heavy pearl. Should I go with a small diamond (or maybe pavé diamonds), or a plain gold one? What do you think?

I vote for the Diamond Dew (I have a Tahitian drop pendant with that finding) or the fan shaped one at the bottom. I'm all about the silhouette / balance of the finished piece, and drop shapes always feel like they need to have a plumpy 8 or hourglass shape to me.

Something about the simplicity of the diamond dew really speaks to me Any chance I could see a picture of your Tahitian drop with the diamond dew?

I also like the fan shaped finding though, it’s also very simple in its own right! Simple but with a touch of bling.
