Hey everyone -- I''ve read this site for some months now, and have found it very helpful. As I near my purchase, I have some questions on your opinion of a following diamond:

IGI cert

5.81-5.84x3.51
carat .72
depth 60.3
table 59
color H
clarity VS2
no flourescence
polish EX
Smt VG

I cannot look at this diamond, as I would get it online - the dealer has an unconditional return policy, with no time limit for the return as long as the ring is unchanged. It is set in platinum, and costs around 3000. I know this may not be the best stone for my money, but that is not my question.

I am wondering - do the table and depth suggest that this will be a poorly cut stone? Might it not be brilliant, and should I not waste my time ordering and returning it? Or do you think that it could be what I''m looking for...

thanks

Hi Ghost,

Welcome to the forum! The numbers look good so far but no conclusion can be drawn as to it''s optical properties. You really need crown/pavilion angles or depth at the very least for minimal input.

Sadly, I do not have any further specs for the diamond. I can view the IGI sheet, (which is from an AGA inspection) but I don''t have any other information. All of the other diamonds I have seen through this retailer have had 1B or 1A specs when it comes to crown and pavillion. My concern is that the table and depth are to close in percentage, or is this an unfounded concern?
