Would you buy a diamond with an excellent cut grade but table proportion of 58%? I''ve been told to stay 57% table or less...

how much does this matter?? If I buy the 58% table diamond am I sacrificing my cut performance a significant amount??

Thanks.

No, nothing is wrong with a table of 58 and above until around 60-61, personal taste. But after 60, performance falls off rapidly.

58% table is fine Noah, even considerably larger than that past 60% can still be ok if the critical angles, other proportions and finish are good - this page suggests a cutoff of 63% which is a good rule of thumb. However the best balanced diamonds often have tables within 54- 58% thereabouts
