I went to London Hatton gardent today, had a look at the selection there. One shop offered me a quite nicely designed solitaire ring, pragged how good diamond it had... to me it didnt have any sparkle at all, but all they said "look at the color, its perfect , clarity doesnt matter"

the diamond was 0.5 carat D VS2, so yeah its quite good, but then I asked to see the GIA certificate and had a look.

the dept was 58.5 and table 65, can''t remember the others, but to me this sounds quite radical. Too wide table?

Is this stone cut well or not, suggestions!

cut too shallow , probably windows out.

One thing I quickly learned in my diamond shopping is that some jewelry stores will brag up the crappiest duds in the house if they are theirs for sale... and denigrate even the loveliest diamond(s) that their competitors have for sale. One store I know of glamorizes their frozen spit! And they can be VERY convincing... if you didn't KNOW better, you'd believe them!

Sami,

You already said it, the stone doesn't sparkle. Buy with your eyes, this stone reeks!

If it doesn't sparkle it's not somehting you want to own or give as a gift. What's the point? You can do mcuh better buying online both in quality and price.
