Super Ideal 1.5ct color I VS2 or Color H SI1 which to choose

Hi all,

I'm getting a platinum ring for my partner and am having trouble choosing the correct diamond.My partner bought herself a 1.5ct G SI1, ideal cut diamond a couple of years back and I know she would like to get something similar in terms of size.
However I am concerned that getting an I color diamond might show too much color if she compares it to her G color. But salesmen tell me that a super ideal diamond appears 2 color grades whiter. But' i've also read elsewhere that for 1.5ct diamonds its best not to go as low as I due to the fact they show more color as they are bigger

Has anyone bought a superideal I color 1.5ct diamond? How "colored" did it look on a platinum setting

Here are the specs of both diamonds which do you reckon is best.
super ideal cut and approx 1.5ct in size.
One is color I and S1
the other color H and VS2
The price is very similar

Who graded the stones? Can you give us the report #?

Delicious!! Well, if it were me and the SI1 is completely eye clean, then I would purchase the H. I had always been told that a round brilliant hides color much better than other cuts too. I previously had an I asscher and was told that they hold body color more than brilliant cuts, so recently I decided to purchase a RB and thought that a J would be acceptable for me. I'm quite surprised at how much color I can see. It's possible that I had a high I before and a low J now, but it's made me reconsider how color appears in different cuts and that maybe there isn't as large a difference between color grades and cuts as has been spoken about. If both stones are equally eye clean or I could live with the inclusions, then I would go with the higher color. You've got two amazing choices there though and I don't think you could go wrong with either.

I should mention this though. I only see the body color when I view my stone through the pavilion and in certain lighting conditions. It never looks anything but white white white face up. That said, I didn't notice until this particular stone how often I view my diamond thorough the side either.
