Does anyone have and use a sunrise simulator and alarm clock? or a simliar device?

If you''re not familar, it seems similar to an alarm clock but instead of beeping, play music, etc it has a very bright natural light that increases intensity for like 30 minutes before your "wake up time". Supposedly it makes for a much less groggy morning and makes getting up easier. I need to start waking up earlier--ie before the real sun rises and I''m looking in to this.

I tend to wake up naturally when the sun comes up and I hate the jolt of the alarm clock. They''re quite expensive... going up to almost $200 so I''m looking for experiences.

Anyone?

Particularly the Biobrite brand?

I use a sunrise simulator alarm.

When my cat detects sunrise, he does his best to get me up.

Seriously, I think the best way to ensure a smooth transition in the morning (other than kicking the cat out, that is) is to make it to bed on time at night.

I don''t have one but they sound like a great idea, I hate the sudden, sharp beeps of my alarm.

It scares the jeebies out of me and makes waking up quite unpleasant

Do you know what model/brand you have?

... does it have it''s own light or do you have your own lamp plugged into the "timer"?

I''m worried about getting one and having the light not be bright enough to wake me up.

Haha... this happens to me! My heart is literally racing when I get up to a normal alarm. I don''t think it''s too healthy.

When I think about it, 6 am is a natural wake up time in the summer because the sunrise is early... in the winter, it is so incredibly hard to get up at 6. It''s just so obvious how light affects your waking patterns. I really am surprised more people don''t use sunrise simulators.
