... Please, anyone have the "Miracle"product? Natural, DIY or otherwise?
Those little ugly creators are starting to rear their little heads between the pavers already.
TIA!

I’m curious too. I’ve got about 4/5 of an acre of weeds and blackberries. I need help. I tried roundup and a few gallons of blackberry killer with limited success.

It's my understanding that if they're coming between the pavers, your paver company needs to come back out and put sand between pavers which will stop the weeds from coming up. This is what my paver company told me.

yep pretty much the only thing that will work long term.

mechanical removal.
Anything that would kill that much is not safe around residential in my opinion.
Expensive but it is likely cheaper in the long run than playing with it.

I agree - wouldn't touch roundup and have told my gardener to NEVER use roundup on my property. Being a cancer survivor, I'm a bit touchy about chemicals.

I use a mix of 1 gallon 5% white vinegar, 2 cups epsom salt, and 1 cup dawn dish detergent (other recipes call for 1-2 tablespoons). I mix it right up in a handheld sprayer and spray it on. It works within an hour to 2 days to dry out and shrivel up the weeds. If you use 10% vinegar it works quicker, however that's more caustic to your eyes/skin. The dawn is what allows the solution to stick to the vegetation so that the vinegar and salt can do their work to kill it.

It's not a permanent solution. Just effective, quick, easy, and non-toxic. Don't spray it on anything you want to live though, it will kill that too. I use it on a large rock driveway and one treatment got us through the summer.

When I was a kid it was my job to pluck them up! My Mom has a wood deck around her pool. She cleaned the pool, I plucked the weeds.

im no organic gardener and if i coukd id be at the rural supply store buying the really good stuff
but there is this little tool if you know anyone with a horse? - they are dirt cheap at your local equestrian store
i did a Google and they seem to go for about US$2 .... of course you can probably get a similar tool at a garden centre for alot more !

hoof pick
ideal for rooting out the weeds between pavers

we sold two different products when i sold pavers - a bedding compound for underneath the pavers
and then this stuff called lock tight for between the pavers that was a fine gravel with cement in
it was surposed to be swept into the gaps then watered in to set
but over time dirt and stuff is going to accumulate and weed seeds get blown in and they grow
you only have too look at a disused road or around an abandoned or unkempt house to see weeds find a way

Hey Queenie,we had a company come last year and he pressured washed the weeds away and then put sand. Maybe too much pressure removed also the sand. I'll give them a call and see if he can come. Thank you

Thank you Karl, I"ll give them a call tomorrow and see what they say.

Thank you rainy, I'll try this recipe. I've tried something similar but with regular table salt and 1/4 cup of dish soap.

its almost fun if you don't have a lot of area

when i worked in the garden centre we were part of a large regional rural supplies company
our saddlery dept sold those hoof picks for $1
we used to stock transfer the gold and silver coloured ones down to our dept and sell them off the counter as wonder weeders for $5 !

Daisy, look what I found!

Boil the kettle. Take outside and pour over weeds. Repeat as necessary. Wait until they dry up and use flat shovel to scrape off.

oh wow look at the price ! :appl:
that's exactly them !
buy 10 - you may want a few little helpers on their hands and knees, and some for spairs ....and a couple to gift to your best gardening friends
honestly they are so useful

we had pavers on our nursery, and as we had to be really careful with weedkillers sometimes it was just eaiser to use these

i hope they do the trick for you =)2

I asked my DH and he said rock salt (the kind you use for snow and ice) or vinegar will get rid of weeds between pavers and other places.

Horticultural vinegar, and get a sprayer thingie to make application easier. I see HV is out of stock a lot of places online but here's a link to the product so you can read about it anyway.

Maybe call around to your local hardware/gardening stores, Home Depot, etc. to see if they have it in stock before you venture out.

I can only get the vinegar/dawn/salt mixture to work when it’s been no precipitation/very low humidity levels for at least a week before application and days after.
Unfortunately that doesn’t happen too often where I am.
Even tried a flame torch one year. Too moist.

Pluck by hand. Everyday nature walk

Hey Moonie! welcome back girl you've been missed! Thank you for the suggestion, I think this stuff is illegal where I am lol (something about this ingredient used in making explosives)

Fisher did you see Daisy's suggestion, pretty neat instead of using your bare hands.

Ohhhh the flame torch hmmm yeah I have a few stories about how that ended up for us lol

Thank you Begonia , would have to figure out way to get boiling water and myself outside safely without harming the doggies that are jumping up at me trying to get at the kettle lol

5% vingegar? my weeds laugh at that. I use a 30% vinegar with soap (wear a mask, this stuff is awful) I used to dilute, I no longer do. have to be careful, don't spray the stuff you want to keep and watch for drift. spray on very low wind days!!. spray on high sun days an watch them wilt, I see results in an hour. The weeds stay away on average 6 weeks. you should fill in with sand though after spraying to keep them down.
