Amazing performance indeed!

My guess is emerald as I see a little bit of blue, and also because emeralds are more common in the West. But I sure would like to see a close up!

Ooh what a beautiful emerald cab, @voce ! I like how you've peared it with rose cuts too!

It reminds me - I sometimes see jadeite set with rose cut haloes and the pairing go so well: the radiant glow of the stone with the subtle shimmer of rose cuts.

I may have been inspired by jadeite settings with rose cut diamonds? There are other Etsy jewelers who do rose cut, and I had never tried it before. Under the outdoor sun rose cuts give big flashes, and they're more subtle indoors. If I set some of my other larger cans, I might consider rose cuts again.

I added a pre-loved vintage Chaumet ruby cab to the collection, style is “Anneau”.

Usually I’m pretty good at knowing / recognising vintage signed pieces but I’d not seen this one before, and, with my recent ruby fascination and love of cabochons, I couldn’t resist. The ruby cab is small (5*3mm) and unsurprisingly doesn’t have a cert, and is a pure red to my eyes.

What’s been fascinating is to compare this ruby cab with my ruby baguettes (vintage Tiffany). I haven’t quite figured out yet when / why the cab lights up vs when the baguettes light up, but I’ll continue noodling…

I like this! It's a good straight red (compare with the baguettes, which are more pink-purplish). When it glows, it glows wonderfully!

Thank you! There is no backing - the glow is helped by a small amount of silk. I bought it loose but don't have a picture. It's a pretty standard cab shape, with a slightly convex base.
