I thought this would be fun. Post true stuff you learned from a movie.

I learned that there are 1652 steps to the Eiffel Tower from Tuck Everlasting.

I learned how to spell "Terrific" from Charlotte's Web.

I learned how to spell beautiful from Bruce Almighty

Until I was about 16 I thought that no matter what if you fell down stairs you would die. Thank you Death Becomes Her.

I learned how olives are picked from Under the Tuscan Sun.

P Sherman 42 Wallaby Way Sydney - Thank you Finding Nemo.

I learned that horses know how to kill snakes from The Black Stallion

I learned what Top Gun is from Top Gun

You can either run away from it, or learn from it - Rafiki The Lion King

All girls are princesses, didn't your father ever tell you that? - The little Princess

Spores won't kill you - The Secret Garden

There's some good in this world and it's worth fighting for - The Lord of the Rings

Bears like Honey - Whinnie the Pooh

The Pirate Code - Pirates of the Caribbean

I didn't really know about the story of King Arthur at all until I watched First Knight when I was a little girl

I knew what a brontosaurus, triceratops, Tyrannosaurus, and Stegosaurus were before I could tie my shoes thanks to Land before time

Nobody puts baby in a corner - dirty dancing

I learned how to be a math genius from Good Will Hunting

Hmmmm... I learned the definition of "eft" from Smart People.

Venti is 20 oz. Role Models I hadn't thought about it before, but when they explained it, I was like, ohhhhh!

Not from a movie, but...from CSI...I learned how to drag a body. It helped moving boxes from one room to another! :)

I learned why clownfish live in anemones from Nemo.

I have such a distrust of script writers that I don't believe anything I see on a movie. Yep. ever the skeptic.

Then again, a character in a movie once took a day trip from Rio to the Amazon (6 hour hour flight), where everyone looked like Colombians and spoke Spanish.

I learned that twinkies can be deep fried - from Zombieland (oh, and that zombies eat brains too!)

I LOVE Under the Tuscan Sun! One of my favorite chick flicks.

I busted a myth after watching the movie Ronin (1998, Robert DeNiro, Jean Reno, etc.)...does that count?

In the movie, Robert DeNiro's character gets shot in the chest and wounded although he is wearing a Kevlar vest. He says "*&(# coated his bullet with Teflon." I was in college at the time and taking a course called Textiles, and Kevlar was discussed in the textbook. Keep in mind that this is only 1998 and most students did not possess laptops, we still went to a computer lab or the library for computer access so I couldn't just google everything like we are able to now. I asked the professor and she didn't know if coating a bullet with Teflon would penetrate a Kevlar vest or not. I was friends with a policeman and I also knew some guys who liked to hunt, so I asked all of them and was told by all that it was an urban myth. I've since googled the question and it does seem that basically it IS a myth.

It was a fun topic to research, though, and I still LOVE that movie, best car-chase scenes EVAR. :appl:

I just learned from watching "Top Chef: Just Desserts" that Godiva chocolatier is pronounced "chocola-tee-ay" and not "chocola-tear" like I thought.

I also just realized that "Top Chef: Just Desserts" is a play on words. I'm not too quick on the uptake.
