I am starting to shop for a set of diamond studs for myself for christmas. I am in Houston so I have multiple options in stone shopping. I am looking for a set that will come in just under 1ctw, I-K, and eye clean.

Not too worried about finding a set of stones, but I am not sure how I want to set them. I love the invisibleness of the 3 prong martini setting, but worry about the sharpness of the prongs scratching against my baby''s face and head.

I also am in love with the smooth lines of a bezel (no scratching), but I dont want the bezel to overpower the diamond. Does anyone have a pic of studs with a superthin bezel?

I went through the stud thread and there are lots of baskets and martinis, but not many bezels. Also, wasn''t there a BGD thread in SMTR. Cant seem to locate it and I wanted to look at their stud settings.

Thanks in advance everyone!

I don''t think you have to worry about scratching your baby.

You think so? My ering is bezel set and I almost always wear pearl studs so I haven''t scratched her, but she has gotten scratched by plat prongs on family members erings.

Any experience/advice is greatly welcome.

Here is Lynnb's bezel's https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/a-little-late-sorry-my-beautful-little-baby-bezel-diamond-studs-by-bgd.128792/ from BGD.
and here are D&T's BGD bezels https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-brian-gavin-yellow-gold-bezel-earrings-soon-to-arrive.115666/

My studs are also from BGD but they are 3 prong martinis. Okay I tried to scratch myself with them and nope, I couldn't. I thought they might but they don't. I think you would be fine with martini's; my martinis are so delicate and have no pokey edges or anything. They are very smooth. I even told Lesley, I was impressed with how delicate the setting is.

I feel you ponder. At first I thought purchasing the diamonds would be the difficult part. WRONG...it turns out the setting is what I have obsessed over the most.

I don''t think any well set stud is going to scratch your baby. Mine better not scratch my granddaughter. If they do, I''m sending them back to be re-set.

It''s also a matter of personal preference. Have you gone and tried on some studs in your size range with different settings to see what looks best on you? I had thought for sure I wanted martini''s because so many people were in love with their martini''s, but they just didn''t look good on my ears. They didn''t set into my ears like I thought they would. I need a flat back basket. I had mine set in a 4-prong, but my daughter wanted hers in martini''s. I will get them next week, so I guess we''ll see if our trying on days were definitive.

I love the look of thin bezels, especially the beautiful ones that LynnB made with BGD. Those are to die for.

It''s important to find out what you prefer on your very own ears. My funky ears weren''t easy to by for.

I have 4 prong baskets that have gone through 2 kids. Never scratched either of them. But for what its worth I really
like the bezel sets. You know come to think about it, it doesnt seem like well made prongs on any jewelry should
scratch anyone? Am I wrong thinking that?

You would think scratching would not be a problem but it is.

My mom''s plat prongs from WF are so sharp that she removes her ring when my baby or my nieces are around. She scratched the 3 year old really badly while pulling up her bathing suit and scratched my daughter on the face when the baby was wiggling around while she was holding her.

I have not looked in person yet, but I guess that is the next step in determining which look I prefer. If I go martini I want the prongs to be as dainty as possible, but that is where my concern comes in.
