Strange Necklace Clasp/Era?

First time poster here! I found these necklaces at a estate/garage sale that I was driving by... The first (pearl/pearl-like one) had a very interesting hook in the back, and there's no ring or anything to hook it on. It doesn't seem like anything is missing... the pearls in the front are larger and gradually become smaller in the back, with additional larger pearls at the back on the side without the "hook."

Also found this other necklace and was wondering if anyone had any clue on its era. Any help would be appreciated!

The first pearl necklace is adjustable, depending on the length you want. The hook is supposed to catch on one of the spaced apart pearls.
The metal on the second necklace has darkened with age, It was probably a shiny gold color when it was new. It's hard to tell what the pinkish material is from your photos. Glass? Amethyst?
I think both of your necklaces are costume jewelry from the 1950s or 60s.

Thanks! I believe (but not 100% sure) it's glass, as the largest piece seems to be hollow on the inside

Any possibility the pink stones are rose quartz?
