Can anyone recommend stores in Los Angeles for a couple starting to look for an e-ring? Looking for a place that is reputable, has a pleasant shopping experience, reasonable pricing, and has a good selection. I'm trying to help my brother, who is a little apprehensive of the whole process. He lives near the diamond district; a place close to there would be good, but he is willing to drive, too. Thank you!

Hi Sparkleme and welcome!

I am sure the others will be along with some suggestions, but your brother could definitely try here. SS specialize in older cut diamonds etc but might offer some new jewellery too, might be well worth a look.

Hi-huge fan of Singlestone here as well! beautiful pieces!

Also, because you mentioned budget, wanted to say Mark Broumand-he is lovely and will work within any budget.

Thank you, Lorelei and Artdecolover! Lorelei, I am a big fan, and I am planning a visit when I am in L.A. this summer.

You are most welcome and that's great, you will have a fab time in SS! *sulks jealously...* :Up_to_something:

Ah! To be able to visit Single Stone in person :appl:
Here is a thread with their work: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/pretty-please-show-me-your-single-stone-rings.200268/
I love their work but it comes with a pricetag...

Victor Canera is also located in LA. By appointment only. He is such a sweet guy and very talented. He makes only handforged rings. His work also comes with a price tag (less steep compared to Single Stone). From my own experience I can say that it's worth every penny. Just look at a lot of threads here on PS and perhaps you could come back with some designs that could work for your sister in law. Based on your budget, other PSers can give you other addresses as well.

In the diamond district there is a place called Oscars Jewelry. It's not at street level but they carry Gabriel, Simon G and a few others. Their prices were a lot better than anywhere else I looked for settings (Robbins bros quoted 2800 for a Simon G, but it was only 1900 at Oscars). Sales were not pushy. I can't comment on loose diamond prices though. I've met Mark Broumand also and found them to be very pleasant and forthright. Most vendors at street level were a waste of time.

You can also try Icing on the Ring which is in the same building as Single stone. We got our bands there nd they were wonderful.

I've heard great things about Icing on the Ring. I can also second the Mark Broumand suggestion. He has a really wide range. Single Stone's stuff is gorgeous but also a little on the higher end for pricing. There's an antique store that's on the same side of the street and block as Single Stone on ground level that has amazing things. It's small and unassuming but it's worth taking a look. Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of the place to save my life, but I've seen LOTS of pretty stuff there.

I'd head straight for Singlestone if you like vintage rings or vintage styles. :wavey:

There is a vendor on the ground floor in the St. Vincent building across the street from Single Stone called Belle Epoque. They also have antique stuff. They were quite friendly and loved to chat about older pieces. What kind of engagement ring were you thinking? There is a list here with old cut/antique dealers if you plan on going that route.
