I'm planning to have a graduated 5-stone band made with some small OECs I"ve been collecting and I was wondering if you could help me figure out the proportions. My initial thought was 4.2-4.5-4.8-4.5-4.2 but now I'm starting to wonder if the graduation will be too subtle or the stones too small and I should do 4.2-4.8-5.3 instead. The thing is, I definitely want the stones bezeled, but I'm not sure it would actually fit across my finger. My finger is not small by any means (6.5 on my right hand) but I do want it to be comfortable to wear. What do you guys think?

I think both of your proposed line-ups will show quite subtle size graduation - as an example only of a bezelled round 5-stone line-up that I do think shows obvious graduation in mm size is here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/181326912/five-stone-mint-tourmaline-mahenge?ref=shop_home_active_9 - the 5-stone band I linked to is ring size 5.75, with 2mm / 3mm / 4.5mm / 3mm / 2mm proportions.

Now, your project may envision very fine bezels, and your ring size is a bit larger, but if you do want an obvious graduation, I think you need more than a half-mm size difference between each level.

OP - I may be changing my mind about whether a half-mm size in-between stones is enough to be noticeable - take a look at this thread which has some graphics of various 5-stone graduations... https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/5-stone-band-project.131270/ -- particularly page 2 of this thread with the different perspective views I find very helpful in helping me visualize the proposed line-ups.

Marym, thanks so much! I can't tell you how much time I've spent obsessing over every 5-stone graduated band thread on PS! I definitely want a subtle graduation, the Etsy ring looks more like a ring with side stones to me rather than a 5-stone band. Love the first bezeled ring that Gypsy posted on the first page of the thread you linked, though I don't think she had the stats on that one. I just wonder if .3mm increase in size will even be visible at all and I should go slightly larger. But with larger, I wonder if it would all even fit across my finger. Though I did find this ring: http://www.langantiques.com/products/item/10-1-5533 where I think the center stone is 6mm and it all fits somehow and I doubt that the hand in the picture is abnormally large.
