After 8 years of waiting, my boyfriend decided to surprise me with an E-ring. He ordered it a month ago & picked it up Saturday from the jeweler and hid it in the center console of his truck. Monday morning he awoke to find his truck window smashed and his work laptop stolen from under the front of driver seat and...gasp...sob...my ring stolen. Horrible, horrible timing and luck. I hold the renter's insurance so he had to tell me about it and ruin the surprise part also. So he's/we are now out a huge chunk of change because he was waiting to insure the ring until I saw it and was happy with it and my renter's insurance only covers a thousand toward jewelry. Because he's the perfect man, he insists I get whatever ring I want to replace it, no matter the cost. The catch is that he wants me to replace it asap (I don't care about not having a ring, in my mind we are already married!).
I've been dreaming of an oval e-ring for the past few months. I know from this forum that finding a satisfactory one (minimal bowtie) can be a challenge so I was wondering if anyone out there could help me look. I'd like at least a carat, at worst H color, VS2 (maybe SI1?), minimal bowtie, all round nice looking oval. Max price around $8,000, obviously lower would be much better seeing he's already spent $8500 and I feel guilty spending more. This all just sucks because we both should be so happy yet this whole thing has definitely darkened the engagement story. Please help!
