Steven Kirsch cluster!

Hi everyone!

I was asked by @mrs-b to post on SMTB about my new, beautiful Steven Kirsch hand crafted floral cluster. I am also starting a SMTB about my new CBI 3 stone, that I also bought while going through the process of creating this cluster. Both are with “K” color center stones!

To review some history... I came on here in January considering a cluster ring incorporating my wedding band diamonds and the center stone of my e-ring.

https://www.pricescope.com/communit...his-ring-replicated-who-would-you-use.245953/

It turns out the center stone from my e-ring was too big for the cluster so I started searching for a smaller stone, in budget... which was 3-4K... and I found one in that price range that was a virtual stone from four Mine (but had a video and looked well cut)! .... unfortunately someone snatched a groovy orange fancy suggested stone within hours on this thread, teaching us all a lesson...

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/1-2-ct-rb-shopping-help-please.246628/

I also decided since I wasn’t using the 1.58 as the floral center, I would sell it to trade up for a 2.66 ct CBI from HPD!!!!!!!!!!! It was a bit of a splurge... but I never cared for the 1.58 very much.

I received really great advice here and forgive me for not going through each post to shout out everyone, just know I appreciate your advice! I contacted both DK and SK for quotes and DK took 2 weeks to get back to me. I already had started the process of going with SK. Their quoted prices were about 30% apart FYI. SK higher.

I originally wanted my local jeweler to do this project. I had spent literally 3 hours with my local B&M jeweler trying to get them to have an idea what I was going for. I did a lot of math and figured out the center diamond diameter on my own (1.15 ct, probably would have been slightly more perfect at 1.2ct) so, I lost confidence my local jeweler’s bench could get this right, and the quote was very high, higher than SK by 10%. When I contacted Steven, he knew precisely what I wanted, he sent me detailed CADs,are 1-2 tweaks to please me, and there was minimal discussion. He just “knew” what to do without me micro managing. I loved it!

So I am so glad I chose to stay with SK! My 1.15 K fire bomb is certainly not as beautiful or white appearing as my CBI, but I do not mind the contrast with the T&Co 10 pt melee. (My wedding band was a chunky channel with 10 x 10 pointers from T&Co) And in this setting, which is meticulously perfect, I could not be happier! It is a RHR.

I wear a size 9 - 9.25 ring. I am the shorter freckly Irish version of Brienne of Tarth. Girls with big bones are beautiful too!!!! So with no further ado:

This is beautiful and the proportions are perfect! Curious, does Steven now do CAD/Cast or is it still hand-forged?

Hi, our initial conversation was that he would be hand forging the basket and using a cast shank. I am not sure if the casting was done in house or out. HPD did the same with my 3 stone. Both settings had too much metal under my finger when I received them, and both needed to be adjusted. He ended up thinning his shank so it was as if he hand forged that anyway! He thinned my HPD shank too. I was sending his back so I sent him both (Wink Layla and Jamie offered to do it there too of course! This was just easier). The CADs were for design only. No 3D printing or casting that I know of.

What a beautiful, beautiful ring! The setting is stunning and the proportions are just gorgeous!

Could you pls tell us the dimensions of the center stone, and could we please see a hand shot of your cluster on your ring finger? Those photos are invaluable for people considering such a style for an engagement ring. And also - for those of us girls with larger fingers - it's SO helpful to get a sense of proportion.

Thank you so much, @lydia - and thank you so much for sharing - this is a glorious ring! :kiss2:

Thank you! Not a great photo but shows the proportions well.

The center stone is 6.7 mm in diameter, the melee are 3 mm in diameter, and on my size 9 the almost 13 mm across is no where near too much.

AND: Thank you everyone for the compliments, aw shucks!
